Can anyone recommend a really amusing or interesting commentary track?
All the one that David Friedman or Hershell Gordon Lewis had done on the Something Weird Video release of their movies (I like this period and this genre of movie). Those two are real living encyclopedia and their tracks are really informative, but I'm not sure that this genre of movie is your cup of tea .

I just remembered, that we had this topic before. Karsten, feel free to move our discussion there.

Sorry all for taking the thread off topic  :bag:

(Thanks Tom for the great link to ratethatcommentary)

I've got seriously bored of making of's too. They're just extended trailers half the time. The exception's are Criterion and some older films where they do retrospective and even critical documentaries. I listen to very few commentaries, except as I said in the other thread Tom linked, bits here and there.

Added to that, I'll give a vote for View Askew. The commentaries are very funny; in one Jay was clearly pissed or stoned! The story of Clerks was great as well. Real rags to riches stuff. I haven't listened yet, but apparently, any of Roger Moore's tracks on his Bond films are a joy.

I also like listening to bits of commentaries on films I thought were terrible! The rubbish they come out with, either defending the film or simply because they are deluded, is a hoot.

Tom already linked there, Rich, but let's particulary point out the Rate That Commentary website. If you look for what's worth listening to, you should find help there.

I am looking forward to the commentary on Tropic Thunder, with Robert Downey, Jr. in character... :)

David Cronenberg usually makes good commentaries.

I know the feeling. :( Last week I drove into the city centre and went into Karstadt, Media Markt and Thalia and didn't find a single DVD worth buying.

I actually went to Walmart today. I went to the DVD section, started looking through the recent release. I then wondered to myself "What the heck do you think you are doing?" - I then walked away. Empty handed.

I walked into Big Lots to pick up a DVD for my niece and nephews...and of course I ended up getting one for myself! :-[
For $3 I couldn't resist Jim Carrey in Man on the Moon. And, it wasn't even on my wish list! :tomato:
