I'm just happy that Ken put an automatic approval for Color only updates. If he hadn't I would have stopped voting for a month or so. I don't have an extra hour or two of day to spend on voting.

I completely agree with you Tom...

And let me say  :thanks:

Are you sure of that? I've seen some where the only change was that

Sorry guys if I sounded rude but for me this isn't essential or important contribution. I would understand the importance if it was something like adding the "anamorphic" to the screen ratio if it was new as it's an important details to know before getting a particuliar DVD. But Color / Black & White / Sepia / Red / Blue / Whatever had no impact at all on a DVD purchase. It doesn't change anything that your film is in color or not it will play with any TV set with no need to adjust that TV. This is why I don't get the rush to do them or the importance (yes, I find this new addition to DVDP quite a waste of ressource when we can't get a correct rating for many countries after so many years), but I guess it's just me

They only come up if they were already in the system before Ken added the automatic approval. There were quite a few the first couple of days but I haven't seen them lately.

Version 3.8.1 Beta can now be downloaded.

I was under the impression the beta period was over
Was there some critical bugs in the previous release?

Ken usually fixes some additional bugs for a .1 release which he thought weren't critical enough to warrant postponing the release of a .0 release candidate.

Plus, a lot of people don't feel comfortable with installing a program that is labeled as "beta." So, once an official release comes out you end up with a lot more people installing, finding problems, and reporting them hence the need for a x.x.1 release. He just chooses to beta test that one as well.
I have a collection.
It can be found here.
No need to check it often.
I update it only twice a year!

I am not sure that having multiple Country of Origins was such a good idea. Now every movie gets countries added if there is a production studio (money-giver) based in a different country.
I see a lot of France and Germany added to typical US movies. For example "The Usual Suspect" is now also a German movie ;)

Jimmy

Good thing I don't use the DVDP database at all... too much non-sense in it for my taste

Tom

I just looked at the contribution notes for Usual Suspect:
"Added Germany as CoO because of copyright owner "Rosco Film GmbH"."   :suicide:  (we need a head-scratch emicon)

On IMDb this company is listed last out of five companies.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0114814/companycredits

And following its link, it only has two productions under its belt. A 1988 TV movie, and the 1995 Usual Suspect.
And because of this, it is now a German movie

Jimmy

and the color / Black and white non sense isn't over... This one is such a waste of time and an useless bad addition idea.

:headscratch:

Had it for a while. ;)

And yeah, I've also seen some odd CoO additions.

The CoO never meant all that much to me but I always considered it to be the country where the major filming was happening and that almost always coincided with the major production company.

Now every second movie will be of german origin because german companies have financed Hollywood movies for years.

Just now both Tomb Raider movies were declared german. Well, at least in one Til Schweiger has a role...

I must be getting blind. I looked twice through all the icons and didn't see it. But I guess I was looking for a more obvious head-scratcher.
