Shouldn't be a problem, I think. Depends on the phpDVDP XML Import. The XML export file should be backward compatible. There are only new XML tags and attributes. No change to existing tags.

You need not worry. The XML export only got new tags and no structural changes. I just updated my phpDVDProfiler with the new format and it did not complain but updated sucessfully.

Thanks! Since my fear wasn't one to be affraid of, I'll do the update right now to see what is new

Jimmy

Just saw that finally we can finally enter more than one country of origin and that we can choose the edition using the one we have already entered

.... but still no half-star review rating! :yellowcard:

I would use it to death on some things like a lack of special features and a few DVDs I have that I consider a full single star to be too generous
I have a collection.
It can be found here.
No need to check it often.
I update it only twice a year!

There are a few broken branches in every family tree.

Jimmy

Would you use it for the DVDs who list a lot of special features like those?

From the The Trading Places DVD by exemple

. Widescreen version enhanced for 16:9 TVs
. English subtitles
. Dolby digital
. English 5.1 surround
. English dolby surround
. French mono

Special Features not rated

Paramount sure didn't know the meaning of special features those days and it's disapointing to see those special features non rated

Blair

  Yea... stuff like that.

I don't like to leave anything with 0 stars. It looks like I haven't rated it yet. I just find it puzzling that this has never been fixed. At least from the most basic programming standpoint it's nothing more than associating another value within the same variable (eg: var_reviewrating = 0.5) with the single half-star graphic. I don't think he'd be tearing into the core of the program having to rewrite everything, bumping down unrelated components.

I mentioned the half star thing again yesterday in the 3.8.1 wishlist thread.

It's seem to be an integer in the Profiler database.
Currently the values 0-9 are used (it was this way even in Profiler 2.x and probably before that). If half-star should be supported, it would need to be 0-10. I don't know why Ken didn't do this from the beginning. Would have made more sense. Now you would have a problem with backwards-compatibility with HTML windows etc, if the meaning of the values are changed.

Those contributions to add only the fact a movie is in color are quite useless... A contribution isn't suppose to add valuable information? Way to go for the ego boosting crowd ::)

P.S : I talk about those who add just that and not those who add something else at the same time...

I mean, I could do more than 2000 contributions just doing this and show what an awesome contributor I am and I don't contribute... See how this is useless as a contribution.

addicted2dvd

Actually..... no I don't see how this is useless as a contribution. In my eyes if the information is correct there is no such thing as a useless contribution. Sure... if there is more things the contributor feels comfortable doing they should be done together. But I for one am extremely thankful for all those color only updates. As this is info I am interested in and I am thrilled if I don't have to input it all myself. In my eyes bring these updates on!

Another thing I think... it may be a good idea to get as many in as possible right now while the color only contribution is accepted instantly. Get it all in and done quickly!

So I am more then happy to say THANK YOU to all those contributors... even if all they are doing is one field (no matter the field).

That is how I truly feel about the situation at least.

I am one of those who contributed hundreds of those "useless" contributions the last few days. And no, I did not do it for my ego. My thinking was, that these contributions should be done now while Ken has disabled voting on these "color only" contributions. Later on these would clutter the voting.
