It seems Hurricane Irene is going up the Eastern Coast of the US... we live on the Eastern Coast of Maryland and should be seeing the effects sometime tomorrow. At this point don't know if we will get full effects of the storm or what have you. But I wanted to post this message here in case I disappear from the site at any point this weekend. Going by http://www.weather.com/weather/hurricanecentral/ the storm should be hitting us between Saturday Evening and Saturday Night. Best thing that could happen is if the storm will turn. Though who knows we may see an evacuation. To worst case losing our home. Which I don't know where that would put us as we live from check to check here. So no savings in the bank to do anything with.

Needless to say... this is going to be a stressful next couple of days.

I wish you all the best and may the storm leave your property alone. You'll be in my thoughts.

Stay safe, Pete.  If you've got friends or family to the west, I'd go visit for a couple of days!

Thanks...
We have no one to go visit for a couple days.  So if need be and there is an evacuation we will probably be at the local High School I imagine that is where they will tell us to go anyway.

Now I feel guilty!  I live in Central Florida.  We just wanted that Storm to go away. NOT TO NEW ENGLAND!  Just away!  It was a strong Category 3 here.  We had 45 mile per hour winds and 10 foot waves on the beach and it was a 150 miles off shore!  Crazy!  Stay safe.  If you have to evacuate follow instructions and stay safe please!  I'll be praying for you all up there.  That it turns away and blows off into the Atlantic.  Best Wishes!

Antares

By the time it reaches New England it should be down to a strong tropical storm. I'm estimating 55 - 65 mph winds. It definitely is going to hit the outer banks of North Carolina, which means it will start to weaken significantly before it gets here. But the gloom and doom fools are in hyper mode around here and have been for the last three days.

The thing that worries me most is that this storm isn't going to be confined to one strike area as most hurricanes do. This one is going to knock down power lines from North Carolina, Virginia, Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, New York and New England as it scrapes the eastern seaboard. When the strike is confined to one general area, the repair crews are clustered together and the work gets done faster. If they have to spread out over 1000 miles, it could take a lot longer to repair the lines.

Where are you at Antares? are you in the line of it also?

I am hoping it does get downgraded before it reaches here tomorrow afternoon.

The last I checked (just now) we have Hurricane Warning till Saturday @ 2:30pm

Probability:
- THE CHANCE FOR HURRICANE CONDITIONS AT THIS TIME IS LESS THAN OR EQUAL TO 10 PERCENT
- THE CHANCE FOR TROPICAL STORM CONDITIONS AT THIS TIME IS UP TO 75 PERCENT.

THIS REPRESENTS A GENERAL DOWNWARD TREND SINCE THE LAST FORECAST.

The last Time I checked it says something like 18% chance of Hurricane and 87% chance for Tropical Storm. So thankfully it is at least going in the right direction.

Edit: Never Mind... I see now that you said New England. :)

Rhode Island, but I live on a hill, so I'm not too worried about flooding.

I hope that Irene passes by and no one gets hurt. It sure seems scary - especially after I read this: http://news.yahoo.com/hurricane-irene-looks-terrifying-space-astronaut-says-174601334.html

Dragonfire

I hope the hurricane misses you Pete.
