Antares

Someone just posted this over at the BPR forum. What's your take on this?

Don't own this DVD, but my first idea certainly is "Photoshop".
It seems to be amazing how near perfect the software has become since "Forrest Gump"
This is strongly supported by the fact that all videos of this scene on Youtube are slightly younger than the requesting video.

If it's not a fake ...  :stars:

Trust nothing that you hear and only half of what you see (if that much anymore)!   :2cents:

She could be a mental who's scratching their head while talking to some imaginary person. Just look how such a person is shown in a movie. They always have their temple.

Or she could be a bypasser who doesn't want to be filmed (it's the 1920s) and rambling on about these crazy people who are seen everywhere "nowadays".

 It is intriguing! I just checked the DVD and it's funny to watch properly. The thing that struck me was that the bit where she pauses and appears to be speaking into the thing as they cross fade, is perfectly explained. She's minding her own business and has just realised that she has wandered into a lavish première, possibly saw the cameras even and suddenly became self-conscious. Stop, nervous laugh, "where do I go? Don't film me, I haven't done me hair!", etc.

There's something sticking out above whatever it is she is holding too. It could be anything. Maybe a watch that needs repairing and she's listening for the tick...

Thanks!
This explains a lot.

Aha! Well done, Antares. I was thinking, could it be some sort of hearing aid, but I thought they were all the horn design still back then.

The only thing that bothers me about my answer is, why is she talking into it. It was only made for sound amplification, and there is no one in her immediate vicinity that she could be conversing with.

Not sure if she's really talking into it or just generally talking.
Talking to themselves isn't that uncommon for older people.

That's what I said before, that she had just wandered into a busy première with cameras around and she'll have become self-conscious and probably said something out loud to no-one in particular.

Hearing aid sounds reasonable.

Time traveler....? Utterly ridiculous. The time travel would have to happen around now, since the alleged mobile phone is of rather large dimensions (appears bigger than my iPhone). Or am I to expect mobile phone still to be of that large size in 20 years from now? Then it's that fact that it's an old lady; yeah, right. Time travel is invented and they send an old lady (or a cross dresser...?) to try it out. If it is much further in the future and time travel is common place, see my point one.

Sure, no hard evidence on my side, I'll admit that

Maybe it's a Doctor Who incarnation or even one of his companions? Remember he upgraded Rose's mobile phone to work across time and space so she could phone her mum. And he often makes things himself, so perhaps he made a more powerful phone...

For testing purposes this is exactly what I would do.
Simply because I wouldn't know if sending someone back in time might affect the personal age too. If this would happen and you sent someone of the age of 30 back 60 years in time there might be nothing left to get back.   :hysterical:
