Yes, it was an astonishing transfer. Looked brand new, not 50 years old. I know it was Achim who twisted my arm :P but I can't find where I mentioned how good it was once I bought it. Anyway, stick it on your list. Not to be missed! ;D

Ok..  I'm sure I'll be getting it at some point.

Only ones still awaiting release are The Incredibles and Finding Nemo.

... and then perhaps Finding Nemo and The Incredibles, but I'm not even sure if those are on blu yet.

;)

I know I should have checked other regions before making my Region A comment :-[

Welcome to this forum, W0m6at! nice to see a familiar name finding its way to here. :)

I've been sporadically lurking for months. Invelos is becoming too spiteful, and with near-zero discussion on movies.

Back on topic, I'd have upgraded A Scanner Darkly to Blu by now, except it only has SD-audio. There was an announcement of a new release timed around the release of Forbidden Planet on Blu, but I can find no reliable info on it. If it's HD-audio and Region-free (me being in an Region-B country) I'm gonna be hard-pressed to resist the upgrade.

Achim

Antarctica is region B...?

Hi  W0m6at, a warm welcome from me too!

Wow, people are upgrading to *me* in high definition!  :hysterical:

I've selectively upgraded movies - favourites, visually dark, and after I saw The Dark Crystal remastered, I had to upgrade Labyrinth (which is the "space" below...don't know why it doesn't show up). Here's what I've double-dipped on so far:

10 out of the 29 Blu-rays I own.

My fiancée has only one double-dip - Mirrormask

Hi W0m6at, welcome.

The non-appearance was explained in another thread, which I can't find just now, in that if no-one has viewed the cover in the on-line element of Invelos then it will not show here. This apparently is due to the way that Invelos stores its pictures. I just viewed Labyrinth for you and it should now appear.

Life? - Who needs a life when you have anime!

My DVD/HD-DVD/Blu-ray Collection
My Library
My CD Collection - sorry I use readerware for that and it doesn't have an online component.

That explains things. Considering I had to scan and submit that one myself, I can't say I'm terribly surprised. Thanks for fixing (I'll go do the same for The Dark Crystal).

Critter

I watched Sherlock Holmes (the most recent) on blu-ray with my Mum last night. I thought it looked supurb, you could see the flecks of dust in the air in some scenes. My Mum on the otherhand had an interesting view of things. She loved the film but when it first started (before any people had come on screen) she asked if it was an animated film. I found this interesting and then I realised why. She spends some time watching me play PS3 games like Uncharted and Assassin's Creed in HD. Since buildings etc look so realistic in the games she found it hard to draw the line between animation and live-action in HD. She could of course tell with the actors etc, I think it was the buildings that threw her off.

Dragonfire

I almost got Serenity on Blu-ray today..and the Toy Story movies.

I'm finding that I prefer older movies on Blu-Ray. CGI and augmented sets kind of look too real sometimes, almost like they've been enhanced. Which sometimes they have with HDR: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High_dynamic_range_imaging

Critter: Sherlock Holmes is on my next to buy list. Really looking forward to it! I'm thinking of getting the UK edition. Can anyone confirm whether or not it has Japanese subtitles when your default player language is set to Japanese? WB tends to do that, especially with UK releases.

Dragonfire: I have Serenity and the Toy Story movies on BD. They're all good buys in my opinion.

Jon: Thanks for the informative article. I learned something new today!
