ActorsRoy Scheider, Bruno Cremer, Francisco Rabal, Amidou , Ramon Bieri
Produced1977 in United States
Runtime121 minutes
AudioEnglish DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1, Spanish Dolby Digital 2-Channel Stereo
SubtitlesEnglish, French, Spanish
OverviewRoy Scheider lends his immense talent to this taut action-adventure from director William Friedkin. Set on the edge of a South American jungle, a desperate four-man team, led by Scheider, must transport a cargo of nitroglycerin over 200 miles of treacherous terrain in order to stop a potentially disasterous oil fire.

Enter into this explosive mix of split-second strategy and jolting suspense set against an outstanding scor by Tangerine Dream.
My thoughtsI have an old p&s DVD of SorcererSorcerer to be a remake of The Wages of FearThe Wages of Fear; it is a lot scarier than most horror films. Regardless of if you have seen The Wages of Fear or not, this is a film that deserves your attention. And if you haven't seen The Wages of Fear, you should really get the Criterion BD of that one. But don't watch both the same day...

A note of warning: Only the blu-ray has the restored version. The DVD with the same cover image that Warner released the same day is just the old p&s release recycled. Shame on you, Warner!

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2003), a review by Jimmy

MOVIE / DVD INFO:

Title: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2003)

Genre: Horror
Director: Marcus Nispel
Rating: 18+
Length: 1h38
Video: Anamorphic Widescreen 1:85.1
Audio: English and French
Subtitles: English and Spanish

Stars:
Jessica Biel
Jonathan Tucker
Erica Leerhsen
Mike Vogel
Eric Balfour

Plot:
Prepare yourself for a level of fear like you've never experienced before...

A group of friends takes a detour while traveling through the back roads of Texas and encounter a chainsaw-wielding maniac. What happens next is beyond anyone's darkest imagination and will leave you speechless and horrified.

From filmmaker Michael Bay ('Pearl Harbor', 'Bad Boys II') and starring Jessica Biel ("7th Heaven") comes this year's most hardcore and terrifying film.

You've been warned.

My Thoughts:
First remake of Texas Chainsaw Massacre, it had the same flaws the prequel I've reviewed just before had and I won't repeat them. But it had more problem so I can complaint a little

None of the protagonists are likeable, they are all a bunch of useless screamers from the first one to the last who can't take any logical decision. Some facts doesn't make any sense at all, by exemple why the slaughterhouse who is closed since 4 years always had pigs and hanged meats inside (I think the familly would have eat that a long time ago). But to be honest there is only two reasons to watch that film, R. Lee Ermey and the Jessica Biel's white shirt (common I'm a guy...).

Really nothing special here, I've seen worst but this is very average.

(Malaysia)
Length:660 min.
Video:Full Frame 1.33:1
Audio:Japanese: Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo
Subtitles:Chinese, English, Other

Plot:
Newly graduated Kumiko Yamaguchi wants to make her mark on the Japanese educational system as a teacher. All well and good until she finds out that the school she'll be teaching at has its fair share of troublemakers and rabble-rousers. The ruffians at the school don't frighten her though for she has a secret of her own-she's a fourth generation crime syndicate member and next in line to head it up. She's gone straight and wants to be a teacher though, but she's one person in whose class you don't want to be caught fooling around!

Gokusen
1.01 A zealous teacher goes on a rampage!! (2002-04-17)

I like this live-action adaption even more than the anime. The actors are very well chosen and the comedy works. I always enjoy watching it (have done so multiple times now). The lead actress is the very definition of Hollywood Homely. Supposedly unattractive to the other characters, she is the hottest of them all. Of the main three female characters, I find the one, who is the supposed to be the most attractive, the least attractive of them (of course she still is beautiful).
