Malcolm X, a review by RichTrek across Saudi Arabia... Adapted from the novel, 'The Autobiography of Malcolm X' written by Alex Haley, this is an amazing biopic of one of the most influential African American leaders to date. It follows the life and times of Malcolm Little through his transformation to Malcolm X and his departure from the Nation of Islam. Spike Lee's epic film captures the internal struggles, the spiritual, political and structural changes that Malcolm submitted himself to throughout his life to achieve his changing goals. Washington displays why he should have won the Oscar by portraying one of the most enigmatic and inspiringing personalities of the civil rights movement. While personally I do not agree with all of Malcom's early philosophies, Spike Lee directs the film perfectly to create a masterpiece and make it a must own film for any biographical epic movie fan. There are inaccuracies in comparison to the book, but one forgives these discrepencies on the understanding that it was poetic license to maintain the pace of the film. 8/10 (From Around the World in 80 DVD's on January 30th, 2008) Superman: Man of Tomorrow, a review by addicted2dvd

My Thoughts: I enjoyed this one, though it did seem a bit on the weird side to me as it didn't follow the usual Superman mythos. It wasn't bad persay... just different and kinda threw me off a bit. But it was enjoyable and I can see myself watching it again. Rating: (From Superman: Man of Tomorrow on July 23rd, 2023) Smallville: The Complete First Season, a review by addicted2dvd
Stars: Tom Welling as Clark Kent Kristin Kreuk as Lana Lang Michael Rosenbaum as Lex Luthor Eric Johnson as Whitney Fordman Sam Jones III as Pete Ross Allison Mack as Chloe Sullivan My Thoughts: A couple days ago the mood hit for me to watch some Smallville again. So I pulled out the first season set. Watched the entire set in 2 days! Now does that mean I will watch the entire series again... I don't know... after all there is 10 seasons. But I did already start the second season. I must say I enjoyed revisiting the first season episodes again. The entire cast looks so young! But that is to be expected from a series that lasted so long. Chloe remains my favorite character. But they are all good. I really didn't care for the portrayal of Lex Luthor early in the series.... don't know why, just expected something different I guess. But he quickly grew on me. A very good start to an excellent series! My Rating: Out of a Possible 5 (From Addicted2dvd's Random TV Series Watched on July 31st, 2013) |
