The Tower, a review by GSyren
(From Reviews and ramblings by Gunnar on July 23rd, 2013) Godzilla, a review by TomTitle: Godzilla Year: 1998 Director: Roland Emmerich Rating: PG Length: 133 Min. Video: Anamorphic Widescreen 2.40 Audio: English: Dolby Digital Surround , English: Dolby Digital 5.1 , Commentary: Dolby Digital Stereo , German: Dolby Digital 5.1 Subtitles: Commentary, Czech, Danish, Dutch, English, Finnish, German, Greek, Hebrew, Hindi, Hungarian, Icelandic, Norwegian, Polish, Swedish, Turkish Stars: Matthew Broderick Jean Reno Maria Pitillo Hank Azaria Kevin Dunn Plot: In the steamy jungles of the South Pacific, an enormous creature is created by nuclear fallout. Lost for decades, the power and the fury of the world's largest monster are about to be unleashed. He's the most spectacular creature in the cinematic history, with a foot the size of a bus, a body as tall as London's Big Ben and the strength and agility the likes of which the world has never seen. The creators of 'Independence Day' are proud to unleash the ultimate in monster movies, 'Godzilla', starring Matthew Broderick, Jean Reno and Hank Azaria. It's true what they say SIZE DOES MATTER Extras: Commentary Featurettes Music Videos Photo Gallery Production Notes Scene Access Trailers My Thoughts: I do not know why this movie has such a bad rep. It is a fine movie about a monster trashing New York City. Well done special effects and audio effects.I think it is funny how the American army destroys more of New York than the creature does and they need the help of the French to save the day (maybe a reason it is not liked by American audiences ) I think a big reason for the poor reviews about this movie is, that it was too much hyped beforehand (as a matter of fact I did not watch this movie in the theater because of this). Another reason may be, that the cinema goers had enough about this kind of movie, because it was yet another movie about a big dinosaur -like creature after already two Jurassic Parks. A nice cast of well-known actors (at least to some) is also present: Jean Reno, Matthew Broderick. Three Simpsons cast members (Harry Shearer, Hank Azaria and Nancy Cartwright). The only thing which didn't quite fit is the "nest" of mini-Godzillas. The scene in the Madison Square Garden feels like a rehash of Jurassic Park. Rating: (From Tom's Random Reviews on December 19th, 2008) Pete's Pilots, a review by addicted2dvdMiracles The Ferguson Syndrome Paul is sent to investigate what he ultimately comes to believe is a real miracle - a young boy named Tommy Ferguson who has the power to heal. But Tommy's gift costs him dearly after he uses it to save Paul's life - a life which, it seems, will never be the same. My Thoughts: This is a great introduction to the series. It is very well done and you can't help but to care for the characters. I thought they young boy did a great job in this episode. One of the women in this episode looked familiar. And sure enough... I knew who she was. Tamara Taylor guest stars in this episode. She is now on the series Bones as Dr. Camille Saroyan. This episode really grabs you from the start when Paul must debunk a miracle where a nun that has been dead for over 100 years was dug up to be moved... only to discover she looks like she died the day before. Excellent episode! My Rating: NOTE: This review was taken from my Miracles Marathon thread. (From Pete's Pilots on April 20th, 2010) |
