Die Abenteuer des Prinzen Achmed, a review by Danae Cassandra

Die Abenteuer des Prinzen Achmed (The Adventures of Prince Achmed)
Year of Release: 1926
Starring: no one
Directed By: Lotte Reiniger
Genres: Fantasy, Adventure

Overview:
When The Adventures of Prince AchmedThe Arabian NightsMy Thoughts:
This is a marvelous film.  Created with silhouette cutouts and color tinting, it depicts a magical world where a prince must battle an evil sorcerer and hoards of fierce demons to win a beautiful princess.

Even without considering the year this was made, the silhouettes are exquisitely detailed, with the ladies looking like they are wrapped in lace, the monsters having suitably fierce expressions, and even lips moving in closeup.  When one thinks about the date - 1926! - one is even more impressed by the work and craftsmanship that went into this film.

But this isn't just for silent film buffs!  I have plans to show this to my friends, all of whom are very average, run-of-the-mill movie viewers.  The story is exciting, the animation enchanting, and it has a powerful, heroic witch!  I love the witch!  Highly recommended.

Bechdel Test: Fail

Overall: 4/5

Unmasking the Phantasm is just one of the twists in this dazzling animated feature. Discover all-new revelations about Batman's past, his archrival the Joker and Batman's most grueling battle ever - the choice between his love of a beautiful woman and his vow to be the defender of right. Batman: Mask of the Phantasm is "a mystery that is genuinely absorbing, suspenseful and moving." (Cincinnati Enquirer)

My Thoughts:
This is a theatrical release from the people that made Batman: The Animated Series. This is a right good movie. I enjoyed how they showed through flashbacks what Bruce Wayne went through to become Batman. And the story of his first love interest was good as well. But I did find it pretty obvious who was behind the Mask of the Phantasm.  The quality of this DVD is very good... no problem with audio or video. But I did find the release lacking when it comes to the extras. Unfortunately all we get is the Theatrical Trailer.

"Big Bang Theory" Marathon, a review by addicted2dvd

7. The Dumpling Paradox
Wolowitz gets a girl. Penny beats Sheldon at Halo. Sometimes truth is stranger than fiction.

My Thoughts:
This was a hilarious episode... I enjoyed every second of it. I especially enjoyed the scene in the restaurant where they were trying to figure out how to divide the Chinese food.

8. The Grasshopper Experiment
Rajesh flips over his gorgeous blind date. But she only has eyes for Sheldon. Sheldon?!

My Thoughts:
Another really funny episode. Not only do we get a fun reaction to Rajesh drinking... I also enjoyed the experiment Penny performed at the end of the episode. I find myself laughing more and more at this show.
