The African Queen, a review by Danae CassandraThe African Queen Year of Release: 1951 Directed By: John Huston Starring: Humphrey Bogart, Katharine Hepburn Genre: Adventure, Romance Overview:The African QueenThe African QueenMy Thoughts: What a great film! It's a simple story, and there are only really two stars - but if you had to have two people to carry a movie, you certainly aren't going to get much better than Bogart & Hepburn. They're both spectacular. This is the heart and soul of the film, and they make their characters interesting and compelling. The story, while simple, has plenty of excitement, and is a good mix of action and romance, with bits of humor sprinkled in. The cinematography is great, for a film of this age - some of the effects, which would have been extremely good for their day, are pretty obvious today for being effects, but you do have to consider the age here. None of the rest of it, however, would matter without the superb performances from Bogart & Hepburn. Highly recommended, can't think of anyone I wouldn't rec this to. Bechdel Test: Fail Overall: 4.5/5 (From Within My (Mom's) Lifetime Marathon on February 14th, 2015) Death Note II: The Last Name, a review by addicted2dvd

My Thoughts: My daughter Brittany has been bugging me to watch this movie with her since I watched the first part 7 months ago! I don't know what caused me to delay so long... guess more then anything was the length of the movie. But now that I watched it.... I am thrilled that I did. I enjoyed every minute of it! This movie definitely knows how to keep you interested! I was glued to the set from the beginning to the end. I don't know what I was expecting... but the ending I think could have somehow been better. Not that it was a bad ending... I guess I was just expecting a little more. If you never seen this series of movies I highly recommend them. I still need to add part 3 to my collection... which I hope to do before too long.My Rating: Out of a Possible 5 (From What Movies I Been Watching on March 18th, 2012) Tom's TV Pilots marathon, a review by TomThe Greatest American Hero Greatest American Heroine Writer: Babs Greyhosky (Writer) Director: Tony Mordente Cast: William Katt (Ralph Hinkley), Robert Culp (Bill Maxwell), Connie Sellecca (Pamela Davidson), Mary Ellen Stuart (Holly Hathaway), Mya Akerling (Sara Hathaway), John Zee (Alien), Jerry Potter), Wayne Grace), Jeffrey Markel (Timothy) Originally this was supposed to be a pilot for a new series, but it was not picked up. Instead in now serves as the last episode of the series. Which works quite well. It shows how and why Ralph has to give away the suit. Rating: (From Tom's TV Pilots marathon on June 27th, 2011) |
