Monster High, a review by addicted2dvd
Stars: Dean Iandoli Diana Frank David Marriott Robert M. Lind Sean Haines D. J. Kerzner Plot: Every school has its share of space cadets, but this semester, MONtgomery STERling HIGH is about to get theirs, complete with real live ray-guns, in this spaced-out sci-fi comedy. When all-American average guy Norm Median meets fatally-attractive Candace Caine the first day of fall term, they're both too distracted to notice the weird new "transfer" students, even if they include a fashion-conscious zombie, a killer plant and a stone gargoyle. Hey, some kids are like that. But when their leader - famous inter-galactic terrorist Mr. Armageddon - drops in with global destruction on his mind, Norm has to think fast. The end seems near until Norm suggests challenging Mr. A's "team" to a basketball game for the fate of the earth. The stakes are high, if the planet is destroyed, it would seriously wreck Norman's chances with Candace but no one said being a senior was easy in the cosmically-campy campus comedy, MONSTER HIGH. Extras: Scene Access Bonus Trailers Closed Captioned My Thoughts: I found this Comedy Horror at Big Lots for only $3.00... thankfully I didn't pay more then that. I went in not expecting much of anything... but this is truly one extremely silly and cheesy movie. Sure there may have been a chuckle or two here and there... and the fact that it had some bare boobs for no apparent reason what so even didn't bother me either... but over-all it is pretty bad. It is not something I could recommend to anyone. My Rating Out of a Possible 5 Count: Movie Count: 17 TV Ep. Count: 11 Other Count: 0 Time Started: 12:30pm (From Month Long Horror/Halloween Marathon: 2010 on October 6th, 2010) The Great Outdoors , a review by DragonfireThe Great Outdoors When an unannounced, uninvited and unwelcome family of fun-loving misfits converge on a lakeside resort to join their relatives for a summer of relaxation, the result is anything but restful in this raucous comedy starring Dan Aykroyd and John Candy. It's a vacationer's worst nightmare, as wheeler-dealer Aykroyd, his sexually repressed wife and eerie twin daughters "join" the easygoing Candy and his straight-laced clan for a season of "fun" in the sun. Unfortunately, the only thing these two in-laws have in common is their intense dislike for each other. Soon, it's brother-in-law against brother-in-law in an uproarious and hilarious fight to the finish to see which one really knows how to enjoy The Great Outdoors. My Thoughts I really enjoy this movie. The plot is rather simple and predictable, but it still works as a fun, entertaining movie. It is definitely worth watching, especially for fans of John Candy or Dan Aykroyd. Other movies have also dealt with things going wrong on a vacation, so that aspect of the plot isn't that original. The way things go wrong is more original and ends up making for a very entertaining movie. I didn't expect a few things that happened. The movie is pretty funny and it still makes me laugh. Some of what is done for humor is silly, but it works for the movie. Candy and Aykroyd both add a lot of funny things to the movie. There are a few sexual discussions and one situation, but there isn't anything offensive in the movie. The characters are entertaining even though they aren't that developed. Chet and Roman are very different, which sets up a lot of the situations in the movie. I do like Candy and Aykroyd in the parts. Annette Benning seems wasted as Kate, Roman's wife. She doesn't really do anything other than back up Roman or make a few cracks. I think this was one of her first parts. My DVD of the movie doesn't have any extras. The movie is very entertaining and definitely worth watching, especially for fans of Candy or Aykroyd. I did get a review posted on Epinions if anyone wants to take a look. The Great Outdoors (From The Great Outdoors on September 4th, 2010) Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles: The Complete First Season marathon, a review by Dragonfire7. The Demon Hand Ellison digs into the history of Sarah Connor. Cameron sets out to find the Turk but discovers something else entirely. My Thoughts This was an interesting episode. I liked that it tied back into some of the things from the second movie and even brought back that idiot Dr. Silberman. Where he ended up at the end of the episode was just..perfect. I loved that. I did like that what he saw when Sarah escaped and the T-1000 was after her was addressed..as well as how the doctor and the staff dealt with it. I didn't like one development as much...just because I didn't think it really fit with the character of Sarah. 8. Vick's Chip What does a T-888 really think? John attempts to hack into a Terminator's memory chip in order to protect Cameron before it's too late. My Thoughts I thought this episode was entertaining and interesting as well..though I'm not sure why the plot outline said the hacking was done to protect Cameron. I must have missed something..but it was late when I watched it. Anyway, it was really interesting to see John doing more, though I did wonder how they could afford the computers and stuff while on the run. I really want to know what is going on with Cameron...and exactly why Derek feels the way he does about her. I'm thinking it is more than just her being a terminator... I'll probably go watch the last episode here in a little while tonight. Then I'll be anxious to see the 2nd season episodes. lol I may start tracking them down online.
