Ever After: A Cinderella Story, a review by TomTitle: Ever After Year: 1998 Director: Andy Tennant Rating: FSK-6 Length: 116 Min. Video: Anamorphic Widescreen 2.35 Audio: English: Dolby Digital 5.1, German: Dolby Digital 5.1, Spanish: Dolby Digital 5.1 Subtitles: English, German, Spanish Stars: Drew Barrymore Anjelica Huston Dougray Scott Patrick Godfrey Megan Dodds Plot: Once upon a time... 'a dazzling rendering of the Cinderella story' (The Washington Post) brought new life to an age-old legend and made us believe in the strongest magic of all: the power of the human heart. Drew Barrymore and Anjelica Huston star in this enchanting adventure about having the courage to make your dreams come true. A 'modern' young woman of the 16th century, Danielle (Barrymore) is as independent and wise as she is beautiful and kind. Against remarkable odds, she stands up to her scheming stepmother (Huston) and works miracles on the lives of everyone around her, including the crown prince of France (Dougray Scott)! Now you can relive this captivating contemporary retelling of the classic fairy tale. No matter what you're looking for, 'action, romance, adventure...'Ever After' delivers it all!' (ABC-TV) Awards:
Extras: Scene Access Trailers My Thoughts: One of my all-time favorite movies! Definately my favorite Cinderella adaption. I loved this movie since I first saw it in the theatres. It made me a fan of Drew Barrymore. It is a take on the Cinderalla story without any mystical help of a fairy godmother and such (if you do not count Da Vinci as a godmother). Also nice to see that it is not Prince Henry who saves Danielle at the last moment, but that she saved herself. Her expression on her face when he comes for her rescue is a "What are YOU doing here?!" Rating: (From Tom's Alphabet Marathon Reviews on July 5th, 2010) The Simpsons Movie, a review by addicted2dvd
Stars: Dan Castellaneta as Homer Julie Kavner as Marge Nancy Cartwright as Bart Yeardley Smith as Lisa Nancy Cartwright as Maggie Nancy Cartwright as Ralph Plot: When Homer accidentally pollutes the river with toxic waste from the nuclear power plant, he gets fired from his job, and everyone has to evacuate Springfield, possibly forever. My Thoughts: Not terrible... but at the same time nothing really special here. But then while I did like the cartoon... it was never really a favorite. And this movie felt more like a long episode more-so then a movie. Nothing in the movie really popped to make it feel any more special. But it is entertaining for what it is. While I can see myself watching it again... not one I will watch all that often. My Rating: Out of a Possible 5 (From What Movies I Been Watching on September 23rd, 2011) Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles: The Complete Second Season marathon, a review by Achim1. Samson and Delilah Rocked by the Jeep explosion, Cameron reverts back to her original mission: Terminate John Connor. Will he be able to save himself? My opinion: After a rather brief summary of season 2 the episodes picks up exactly at the moment where season 1 ended. I highly enjoyed the first 5 minutes, where the dialog-free action on screen was edited to a song (which I liked, guess that helped). The main chunk of the episode is about the chase and the question if they will kill Cameron or be able to get her back on their side; and the related internal group conflict. Somewhere else a new character is introduced which puts that "Turk" storyline right back into gear. (click to show/hide) With a good amount of action this episode is a good starting point and makes me look forward for more. Summer obviously had fun being the bad guy (liked the scene where she fixes her face). Only problem I (still) have is, that Thomas Dekker somehow looks too old for the role. As some point they refer to him as a teenager which he is clearly not. Rating: (From Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles: The Complete Second Season marathon on January 25th, 2010) |
