Lord of Illusions, a review by addicted2dvd

Lord of Illusions
From best-selling author and celebrated director Clive Barker comes a supernatural thriller that rips apart the boundaries between sanity and madness, between the art of illusion and the terrifying forces of magic. With heart-stopping suspense, "masterful visual effects" (Roger Ebert, 'Chicago Sun-Times') and non-stop terror, it's a riveting journey into the shadowy corners of the human soul.

Scott Bakula ("Quantum Leap") portrays Harry D'Amour, a private detective visiting Los Angeles on a routine investigation. Harry gets more than he bargains for when he encounters Philip Swann (Kevin J. O'Connor), a performer whose amazing illusions captivate the world. But are they really illusions? Harry isn't so sure as he is thrust into a nightmare of murder, deception and terrifying assaults from the dark beyond.

TV Star:
Scott Bakula (Sam Beckett on Quantum Leap, Capt. Jonathan Archer on Star Trek: Enterprise)

My Thoughts:
This is the first time I ever watched this movie. I finished watching it... and I still don't know what the heck was going on! A good friend of mine recommended this movie to me. And she just told me that if I wasn't paying complete attention to it... I would definitely get confused so that may be why. As I was interrupted several times in the movie. So to be fair I definitely have to give this one another shot. But from what I understand.. Clive Barker's movies can be confusing anyway. So let me just warn you... if you go to watch this movie... be sure that you can devote the whole 2 hours to the movie without any distractions.

My Thoughts:
I enjoyed this one much more than the second part. Like the first part it is again much more self-satirical about the fascist aspects of the federation. Although I think it is just trying to hard to top the first one in this regard and undermines the first one a bit.
Although the religious aspect is just ridiculous. I am not sure if it is supposed to be funny or not. The religious characters constantly complain about stuff being blasphemy. What is blaphemic about cursing using "f*cking"? If I would be religious, I probably would have found some imaginery blasphemic. Like a gun symbolizing a cross or the "The Creation of Adam" (by Michelangelo) recreation.
I am taking the religious stuff like it is supposed to be a parody (it probably is), and think of it as being purposefully idiotic.

Charmed Marathon, a review by addicted2dvd

Disc 4:

13. Bride And Gloom
Phoebe turns to Cole for help when a demon tricks Prue into marriage so he can turn the sisters evil and take possession of the Book of Shadows.

My Thoughts:
This is another fun episode. It was really entertaining to get a glimpse of what the sisters would be like if they were evil. This is also the episode that Cole returns... oddly though... as much as I dislike him... I didn't mind him all that much in this particular episode. Maybe because his time was limited a little less then most episodes he is in.

14. The Good, The Bad And The Cursed
Phoebe's visit to a ghost town becomes a nightmare, and when Leo can't help her, Prue and Cole must unravel the mystery to save her.

My Thoughts:
Here we have an interesting episode. Get a little taste of the Old West. Much more Cole in this episode... so that part didn't appeal to me much. But nonetheless I enjoyed it.

15. Just Harried
Piper begs for a demon-free wedding day, but her marriage to Leo is put on hold when Prue is accused of murder.

My Thoughts:
A good episode filled with emotion. Piper and Leo finally make it to their wedding. Of course you know they couldn't make it as easy as that on the show. They also have to deal with that in her sleep Prue is split in two... her sleeping self and her astral self.. trying to get away from all the responsibility that she has. As she finds out that she finally has to take some time for herself instead of only being there for others.

16. Death Takes A Halliwell
Prue faces the Angel of Death while two Seeker Demons destroy everything in their way in order to find and kill Cole.

My Thoughts:
Another powerful episode. Not to mention a glimpse into what will be happening in the show soon. In this episode, like the previous episode, it is Prue that once again learns a hard lesson. Episodes like this makes me wonder if the show was hinting at Prue's end on the show... or if at this point they didn't know they were about to loose Shannen Doherty... and they were doing some major character development.
