Spy Kids 3, a review by RichSpy Kids 3 The Spy Kids are back again! This time, their trademark action is combined with the very latest digital technology and the thrill of the 3-D experience to deliver a motion picture event that pushes family fun to the next level! Secret agents Juni (Daryl Sabara) and Carmen Cortez (Alexa Vega) set out on their most mind-blowing mission yet: a journey inside the virtual reality world of a 3-D video game where awe-inspiring graphics and creatures come dangerously to life! As they face escalating challenges through increasingly difficult levels of the game, the Spy Kids must rely on humor, high-tech gadgets and the bonds of family in order to stop a power-hungry villain (Sylvester Stallone) set on controlling the youth of the world! Also starring favorites Antonio Banderas, Carla Gugino and Ricardo Montalban in an incredible all-star cast! Oh dear, I lost the 3d glasses and our regular sets also missing Thought I could watch the film without them but oh no, it is regularly just a hazy blur. Gave up! **Carla Gugino mini-marathon (From Riches Random Reviews on August 7th, 2009) Mirror Mirror, a review by DragonfireMirror Mirror I wanted to see Mirror Mirror from the first time I saw a preview of the movie. The movie is a version of Snow White. It tells the same basic story of Snow White growing up with a stepmother after her father disappears. The stepmother keeps Snow confined to the castle before trying to do away with her. There are a few new elements, like the Queen having money problems and deciding to marry the young Prince Alcott who shows up and the dwarves being bandits. Some of what happens is a bit predictable since the basic story is so well known, but that doesn't keep the movie from being fun and entertaining. There are even a few small surprises thanks to the changes to the story. There is a decent amount of humor added that I think works. Some people might think that the movie is too silly. Some parts are a little silly, but that works for the movie, helping to make it fun and entertaining. The characters are all tweaked in ways that are interesting and the cast is great. I really enjoyed the movie and I'm sure I'll add it to my collection eventually. I did post a longer review of the movie at Epinions. A retelling of the pilot episode: Instead of seeing Carson Daly talking about karma on TV, he sees Stewie from Family Guy talking about vengeance. A fun little episode playing with the premise of the series. (From TV Time-Travel Marathon on January 12th, 2008) |
