Carnal Knowledge, a review by HalTitle: Carnal Knowledge Year: 1971 Director: Mike Nichols Rating: R Length: 98 Min. Video: Anamorphic Widescreen 2.35:1, Pan & Scan 1.33:1 Audio: English: Dolby Digital: Mono Subtitles: English, French Stars: Jack Nicholson Candice Bergen Art Garfunkel Ann-Margret Rita Moreno Plot: One of the most controversial movies of its time, this "thought-provoking" (Leonard Maltin ) comedy-drama from legendary director Mike Nichols (The Birdcage) is a funny, poignant look at relationships as seen through the eyes of two friends over a 20-year period. Superbly crafted by playwright Jules Feiffer, Carnal Knowledge is brimming with touching insights, sexy banter and powerful performances by three-time Oscar winner Jack Nicholson, Ann-Margaret, Candice Bergen and pop music icon Arthur Garfunkel. Jonathan (Nicholson) and Sandy (Garfunkel) are college roommates who share an endless fascination - and obsession - with women. As time goes by, their relentless pursuit for the joys of the flesh becomes more competitive. And more damaging. Soon, Jonathan and Sandy's lives become a vicious circle of girls, booze and unfulfillment, and they realize only too late that - in the war of the sexes they are their own worst enemy. Fly with this all-new, feature-length spectacular and experience the action, adventure and excitement that only Superman can bring home! Extras: Trailers Closed Captioned My Thoughts: This is a good animated movie... I enjoyed it just as much as the animated series it came from. I must say though... even though I did enjoy every minute of the movie... I did not care for the look they gave Brainiac After Lex helped him combine with the satellite. I liked the look of him in the beginning of the movie much more. I also liked how they did the Phantom Zone in this movie. Story makes this release well worth it... but unfortunately the dvd itself is lacking.not much for extras what so ever... just a handful of trailers. My Rating: Out of a Possible 5 (From Weekend Movie Marathon: Anything Goes on January 22nd, 2010) Tom's TV Pilots marathon, a review by Tom
Plot: Imagine a future where the secret to immortality has been discovered, causing women to stop aging by the time they turn twelve. Not quite right, is it? That's why the Big Man Upstairs sends Dokuro-chan, an angelic assassin, into the past to "deal" with the sicko who messed with nature. But she decides instead to move in with her target to keep him too occupied to find eternal life. The path of nonviolence leads to a fountain of blood, as she constantly kills him by accident, only to resurrect him with a magical chant moments later. Bokusatsu tenshi Dokuro-chan 1.01 It's a Bludgeoning Angel! Dokuro-chan! Writer: Masaki Okayu (Original Material By), Tsutomu Mizushima (Screenwriter) Director: Tsutomu Mizushima Cast: Saeko Chiba (Dokuro-chan (voice)), Reiko Takagi (Sakura Kusakabe (voice)), Rie Kugimiya (Sabato-chan (voice)), Ayako Kawasumi (Shizuki Minakami (voice)), Nobuo Tobita (Zansu (voice)), Masakazu Morita (Yamazaki Sensei (voice)), Makoto Yasumura (Miyamoto (voice)), Shinnosuke Tachibana (Matsunaga (voice)), Keijin Okuda (Sasaki (voice)), Kenichi Mochizuki (Hosaka (voice)), Atsushi Imaruoka (Umezawa (voice)), Nobuyuki Tanaka (Ludwick (voice)) A fun episode. Though I never got past watching the second episode. I have enjoyed the episodes, but it already showed that its a one-joke series. Dokuro-chan's habit to bloodily kill off the main character, just to revive him again. Rating: (From Tom's TV Pilots marathon on March 30th, 2011) |
