StarsReviewDas Boot recounts the danger and drudgery that a submariner on a U-boat at sea in the North Atlantic faced on a day-to-day basis. From the icy waters of the Iceland straits to the constant fear of being detected by either the Royal Navy or Air Force, director Wolfgang Petersen recreates the conditions that every crew of a type-7 U-boat faced in their submerged, claustrophobic world, painting a picture of the endless monotony endured waiting for convoys. The tedium being broken frequently by a cry of Alarm!Das Boot transcends almost all of the mundane movies in this most skewed and derided of genres. If you are the type who likes war films to be the insipid ilk that are patriotic, gung-ho and grisly bacchanals, then you have picked the wrong film to watch. If on the other hand, you enjoy a tense emotion packed drama that delves into the curious fascination are species has with killing our fellow man in the name of honor and country, and the futility that it fosters, then Das Boot is right up your alley. Of the countless scores of propaganda, patriotic, anti-war and human study films that have been made in this genre, Das Boot is the best.

My Thoughts:
I quite enjoyed this movie. Finally a "hacker" movie, which stays relatively realistic in its dispiction of computer programming and hacking.
I was pleasantly surprised by this movie, when I first saw it. At the time I thought it would probably be rather unrealistic like "The Net" with Sandra Bullock. I had bought it mainly because it has Rachael Leigh Cook in it ;)
This movie is essentially a battle between the good (open source programmers) and evil (big Microsoft like cooparations). Tim Robbins as the CEO of the cooperation is unmistakenly based on Bill Gates.

Charmed Marathon, a review by addicted2dvd

Disc 6:
"Love Hurts"
Original Airdate: May 19, 1999
Returning to San Francisco, Leo (Brian Krause) asks the Halliwell sisters to protect an innocent woman who is being stalked by a demonic auditor. Piper finally learns that her beau, Leo, is a White Lighter. Because of this, Piper must say goodbye to her love.

My Thoughts:
This was a really good episode. Now all the sisters know about Leo as they fight to save his life. The sisters use a spell to switch powers so Piper can try to save Leo with his own healing power. As Phoebe said... it was a supernatural "Freaky Friday".

Original Airdate: May 26, 1999
Fighting for their lives, the Charmed Ones combat time sorcerer Tempus Fugit (guest star David Carradine) who has created a terrifying time loop. It is a race against the clock as the sisters try to find a way out of their terrifying recurring fates.

My Thoughts:
A great way to end the season. A ""Groundhog Day" type of episode as Tempus aides a demon to try to get rid of The Charmed Ones. Even though it was pretty obvious to have Phoebe see through the time loop with her psychic powers... but how else could they really of done it? It was the most obvious way... but at the same time the best way in my opinion.

Overall Season 1 Thoughts:
A great beginning to what I have always felt was an awesome series. I know many people that do not care for this show at all... and many who stopped at season 3... then there has been many that stopped at season 5 or 6.  I on the other had loved this series clear to the end. But fear I am one of the few. So if you haven't seen this series I would suggest checking out an episode or two before going out of your way to buy it. Unfortunately the first season (as well as the next 6 seasons) has no extras (other then promo trailers) what so ever. This was always a sad thing for me... but at least they tried to make up for it in the 8th (and final) season.
