Men in Black, a review by addicted2dvd
Stars: Tommy Lee Jones as Kay Will Smith as Jay Linda Fiorentino as Laurel Vincent D'Onofrio as Edgar Rip Torn as Zed Plot: Men in Black follows the exploits of Agents K (Jones) and J (Smith), members of a top-secret organization established to monitor alien activity on Earth. The two MiB find themselves in the middle of a deadly plot by an intergalactic terrorist (Vincent D'Onofrio) who has arrived on Earth to assassinate two ambassadors from opposing galaxies. K and J face a simple imperative: track down the interloper or the Earth will be destroyed. It's all in a day's work for the Men in Black. Extras:
My Thoughts: This movie is just plan fun for me. It is a really good "Turn your brain off... Popcorn Movie"... it has a nice amount of laughs. I enjoyed the performances of both Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones in this movie. I especially enjoyed Will Smith firing off that little gun of his... the "Noisy Cricket". If you just want some mindless entertainment for about an hour and a half... this one I will recommend. I jut recently upgraded to the blu-ray/dvd combo pack. I haven't had the chance to check out the extras yet... but looks like a great set. The movie looked and sound great. Stars: Tyler Labine as Dale Alan Tudyk as Tucker Katrina Bowden as Allison Jesse Moss as Chad Philip Granger as Sheriff Plot: Tucker and Dale are two well-meaning hillbillies who just bought the vacation home of their dreams - a run-down, lakefront cabin in the middle of the woods. Only their peace is disrupted when a group of rowdy college students choose their area of the forest to go camping. When one of the girls falls into the lake (a result of Tucker and Dale startling her), they bring her back to their cabin to bandage her up. The catch: when they tell her friends they have her, the teens think they had kidnapped her. A chain of hilarious misunderstandings ensue, consisting of the teenagers accidentally killing themselves in front of the unsuspecting (and truly baffled) Tucker and Dale. Extras:
My Thoughts: Great start for my this year's FantasyFilmFest marathon. Tucker (Alan Tudyk from Firefly) and Dale are two good-hearted hillbillies who are mistaken by some college kids for a couple of killers because of some preconceptions and a lot of unfortunate accidents through which the college kids loose their lives one by one. This movie was real fun. It is for slasher movies what Shaun of the Dead was for zombie movies. I think I will get this one on DVD when it comes out.Rating: (From FantasyFilmFest 2010 on September 2nd, 2010) The One Where It All Began: The Pilot Marathon, a review by DJ DoenaThe 4400 What's the show about? 4400 people have been abducted from Earth over the years - and suddenly they all return in a great ball of lightning. But somehow they've changed. They have no recollection of what happened to them but everyone seems to have a newly aquired special ability. "Pilot" 1939. A little girl disappears. 1951. A black soldier disappears from Korea. 2001. A teenager disappears from a beach while his cousin falls into a coma. 2004. A comet is headed directly to Earth and it's coming in hot. Every try to shoot it down fails. But then it suddenly slows down and comes in for a landing. And it brings: The 4400. 4400 people suddenly return from ... where? No one really knows. They are released to the world and they have to find their way in it - except that some of them (all of them?) are different now and the world has changed, too... My Opinion I've only watched the first season (yeah, all 5 episodes! ) but I liked it, but wei'll have to see how long the Freak-of-the-Week concept is going to work.
