Dracula's Daughter, a review by addicted2dvd
Stars: Otto Kruger Gloria Holden Marguerite Churchill Edward Van Sloan Gilbert Emery Plot:Extras: Scene Access Feature Trailers My Thoughts: I really enjoyed this one quite a bit.The quality... both audio and video... was very good. I have no complaints on this movie what so ever. This movie is the oldest I ever seen where it was about a female vampire. I really enjoyed Gloria Holden as Dracula's Daughter... but I have to admit I really liked this girl that was only in a small part of the movie as one of her victims... a girl named Nan Grey... she was a very attractive girl... with a sweetness about her that she actually left an impression with such a small part. Unfortunately this is the only movie I have with her in my collection. My Rating Out of a Possible 5 Count: Movie Count: 9 TV Ep. Count: 3 Other Count: 0 Time Started: 7:00am (From Month Long Horror/Halloween Marathon: 2010 on October 3rd, 2010) Hostel Part II, a review by HalTitle: Hostel Part II: Unrated Director's Cut Year: 2007 Director: Eli Roth Rating: Unrated Length: 95 Min. Video: Widescreen 2.35:1 Audio: English: PCM: 5.1, English: Dolby Digital: 5.1, French: Dolby Digital: 5.1, Commentary: Dolby Digital: 2-Channel Stereo, Commentary: Dolby Digital: 2-Channel Stereo, Commentary: Dolby Digital: 2-Channel Stereo Subtitles: Chinese, English, French, Korean, Portuguese, Spanish, Thai Stars: Lauren German Roger Bart Heather Matarazzo Bijou Phillips Richard Burgi (1958) Plot: Presented by Quentin Tarantino (Kill Bill, Vols. 1 & 2) and written and directed by Eli Roth (Hostel, Cabin Fever), HOSTEL PART II is the shocking and gruesome sequel about the underground torture ring where rich businessmen pay to torture and murder their victims. The second installment in this terrifying franchise centers around three young American women (Lauren German, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Bijou Phillips, Bully, and Heather Matarazzo, Welcome to the Dollhouse) who are studying in Rome. They are lured into a hostel by a beautiful young woman who sells them in as the next victims of a murder-for-profit business. Also starring Roger Bart (TV's "Desperate Housewives") and Richard Burgi (Starship Troopers 2: Hero of the Federation). Extras: Scene Access Audio Commentary Feature Trailers Deleted Scenes Featurettes Interviews Outtakes/Bloopers Interactive Surveillance Camera Footage My Thoughts: The carnage continues in this sequel to Hostel but with young women as the targets instead of young men. We get a little closer look at the inner workings of the "enterprise", and a little less of the blood and gore; not much less but a little. The role reversal of Todd and Stuart was an interesting and unexpected twist and Stuart's fate will give lifelong nightmares to any red-blooded male! Rating: (From Hal's 2010 Horror Marathon Reviews on October 3rd, 2010) My PILOT Marathon, a review by RichTitle: New Tricks: Series 1 Certificate:M Year:2003 Plot:Superintendent Sandra Pullman, whose brilliant career is sidelined after a hostage rescue goes disastrously wrong ("you shoot one dog...") has been put in charge of a new department - The Unsolved Crime and Open Case Squad (UCOS). However she is soon dismayed to discover that her unit is to be manned by former detectives who have long since hung up their badges. Pullman's recruits - grieving widower Jack Halford, once her mentor in the murder squad; the compulsive obsessive ex-Inspector Brian Lane and ex-Sergeant Gerry Standing, one of the top thief-takers of his time, who left the force amid rumours of corruption - might have years of experience, but they know little of modern police methods. Can she create a crack team out of this trio of eccentric dinosaurs who are quickly discovering the rules of the game are no longer what they used to be? Pilot When Roddy Wringer is released on appeal after serving twenty years for the murder of a nightclub hostess - a crime he always claimed he did not commit - his case gets reinvestigated by UCOS - The Unsolved case squad. The squad is to be made up of some of the best retired officers available The squad gets headed up by Det Supt Pullman, who is moved after shooting a dog in a hostage rescue gone wrong. With Jack Halford she sets out to build her team and investigate the case. My Review: New Tricks began as a one-off episode, first shown in March 2003, which gained enough viewers for a series. Class Pure Class The best way to finish this months pilot marathon, the best of the best saved til last. Top rating - just buy it. (From My PILOT Marathon on September 29th, 2009) |
