The Hurt Locker, a review by Jon2009 The Hurt Locker 5 out of 5 From visionary filmmaker Kathryn Bigelow, The Hurt Locker is an intense portrayal of elite soldiers who have one of the most dangerous jobs in the world: disarming bombs in the heat of combat. When renegade Sergeant William James (Jeremy Renner - 28 Weeks Later, The Assassination of Jesse James) takes command of a highly trained bomb disposal unit, he frequently risks the lives of himself and those around him with his suicidal methods and a complete disregard for danger. Caught in the middle are his subordinates Sergeant J.T. Sanborn (Anthony Mackie - Half Nelson, We Are Marshall) and Specialist Owen Eldridge (Brian Geraghty - We Are Marshall, Jarhead), who can only watch as their leader descends further into addiction: an addiction to war.TigerlandOccupation covered some similar ground last year and is worth looking up instead). The Hurt Locker is an adrenaline rush, if you allow it. The only thing wrong with it is timing and hopefully it will eventually find an appreciative audience. For now, at least the Academy have recognised the sheer, extraordinary quality of this film. Cover Blurb: Long time no post. I'm still not really in the mood for writing even some mini reviews, but this one deserves a few words, because it moved straight up into my Top 3 of 2010. David Gordon Green's Undertow and Jeff Nichols' Shotgun Stories are the obvious reference points for this Southern Gothic tale, but I'm going out on a limb here (and probably also pique more of an interest on this forum) by mentioning Rian Johnson's Brick. This time, the weary and beaten teenage detective is a girl, who has to navigate a white trash backwoods community with unspoken rules that are far more complicated than the setting suggests. Newcomer Jennifer Lawrence is amazing in the leading role, but the entire cast is without a flaw. She experiences a sense of dread over the possibility of a plane crash. My Thoughts: This is the first part of the season finale... not to mention a great episode. I enjoyed every second of it. Even though they tried well enough to cover it up... I remember the first time I saw this episode... I instantly knew the twist. Which kinda sucked since I hated to see that situation happen. 22. THE ONE After a jetliner crashes Melinda faces the overwhelming task of helping hundreds of passengers cross over. "Wide Brim Hat Man" is working against her. She must work with the crash investigators who try to find out how she knew the plane was going to crash. My Thoughts: This is a great ending to the first season.... naturally this takes over right where the last episode left off. Through-out this episode they hinted at the big twist I mentioned in the last episode... then at the end of the episode they revealed it.I whole time I first watched this episode I kept telling myself I knew I was right. Season One Over-All Thoughts: This is a really great show that had me hooked since the very first episode. This show made me a fan of Jennifer Love Hewitt. I knew of her before this show... but was never that much impressed with her till I saw her in this role. Know I think she is really good. They did a good job on this release as well. I love the packaging... 3 Thinkpak cases with 2 discs in each in a slip case. The way boxsets should be done! Plus they give you a nice selection of extras as well.
