National Security, a review by addicted2dvdTitle: National Security: Special Edition Year: 2003 Director: Dennis Dugan Rating: PG-13 Length: 88 Min. Video: Anamorphic Widescreen 1.85:1, Pan & Scan 1.33:1 Audio: English: Dolby Digital: 5.1, French: Dolby Digital: Dolby Surround, Commentary: Dolby Digital: 2-Channel Stereo Subtitles: English, French Stars: Martin Lawrence Steve Zahn Colm Feore Bill Duke Eric Roberts Timothy Busfield Plot:Extras: Scene Access Audio Commentary Feature Trailers Bonus Trailers Deleted Scenes Music Videos Closed Captioned My Thoughts: Felt like a bit of comedy... so popped this in. Unfortunately I found very little to laugh at in this one. I went in expecting a little more what with Martin Lawrence... but basically all I got is average entertainment at best. Getting no more then a chuckle or two out of the entire movie. Just a decent way to waste an hour and a half. If you watch this one don't go in expecting too much. My Rating: Out of a Possible 5 (From Weekend Movie Marathon: Unwatched DVDs on September 18th, 2010) Prom Night, a review by addicted2dvdMOVIE / DVD INFO: Title: Prom Night Year: 1980 Director: Paul Lynch Rating: R Length: 89 Min. Video: Anamorphic Widescreen 1.85:1 Audio: English DD Mono Subtitles: None Stars: Jamie Lee Curtis Leslie Neilson Casey Stevens Eddie Benton Plot: Four Hamilton High School seniors have been hiding the truth of what happened to ten-year-old Robin Hammond for six long years. But someone saw what they did and is preparing for revenge - a prom night killing spree. Hooded, masked, and wielding an axe, he'll stalk his prey in the dark, empty halls, striking when his victims are alone. And just as the spotlight falls upon the newly crowned king and queen, the killer will show everyone what his favorite game to play is... Extras: NONE!!! My Thoughts: This is a movie I have not seen in years! It has been so long in fact that I really don't remember much of anything about it going into it. Other then I like the fact that it stars Jamie Lee Curtis as she has done some really great work in horror in her early years. First off... I know the movie is Prom Night... and I know what that entails... but too much music for my taste. For those of you that don't know... I am not a music fan... There is NO type of music that I like. But I was of course expecting that going into it. This is not a movie that I could say is really scary in any way... but it does have it's moments. It is one that doesn't show any real gore either. It is one of those movies that leaves most to the imagination. That is not a complaint mind you... as at times that can be worse then what they can actually show. I personally like both gore and non-gore movies. The twist ending was no real surprise... even with the mis-direction they used. The DVD Release for this movie could have been so much better They give us no extras what so ever on this release... not even the Theatrical Trailer! Surprisingly... there isn't even trailers for other movies. Which is something we usually get... if for no other reason to try to get us to spend more money on other titles from their catalog. Over-all... It is a decent '80s horror flick that I am glad I added to my collection. I just wish they treated the DVD release with more respect then they did. (From Prom Night on June 21st, 2008) "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" Marathon, a review by DJ DoenaNext to all the science fiction I need a bit of fantasy in the mix. I have ignored Buffy for many years and only in 2007 I watched the pilot for the first time on TV. And I have to say, it intrigued me. I ordered the first season, watched it, wanted to know how it would continue and ordered the entire show. But there was a movie first: Kristy Swanson ... Buffy Donald Sutherland ... Merrick Paul Reubens ... Amilyn Rutger Hauer ... Lothos Luke Perry ... Pike Michele Abrams ... Jennifer Hilary Swank ... Kimberly Paris Vaughan ... Nicole David Arquette ... Benny Stephen Root ... Gary Murray Thomas Jane ... Zeph Synopsis: Buffy is a normal high school freshman and member of the cheerleading squad. But then she meets Merrick and he shows her what she really is: The Chosen One, a Vampire Slayer. Born with the strength and skill to fight the Vampires, to stop the spread of their evil and the swell of their numbers. But she wants to stay a normal girl and wants nothing to do with such rubbish. My Opinion: This movie may not be what Joss Whedon had intended or will do on the TV show. But it definitively falls into the category of "guilty pleasure" and is a lot of fun if you're willing to accept its cheesiness. And the dialogue is unmistakably Whedon. Also, Lothos used a Samurai Katana, that's a plus in the book. And then there was the show. (From "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" Marathon on March 14th, 2009) |
