You've Got Mail, a review by addicted2dvdTitle: You've Got Mail Year: 1998 Director: Nora Ephron Rating: PG Length: 119 Min. Video: Anamorphic Widescreen 1.78:1 Audio: English: Dolby Digital 5.1, Commentary: Dolby Digital Stereo, Music Only: Dolby Digital Stereo Subtitles: English, French Stars: Tom Hanks as Joe Fox Meg Ryan as Kathleen Kelly Greg Kinnear as Frank Navasky Parker Posey as Patricia Eden Heather Burns as Christina Plot:Extras: Scene Access Audio Commentary Trailers Featurettes Gallery Production Notes DVD-ROM Content Closed Captioned My Thoughts: This is one I haven't watched in quite some time. According to DVD Profiler I haven't watched it in 7 years. This is one that I enjoyed quite a bit. I think both Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan did a great job in this movie. I also got a kick out of seeing Jean Stapleton in something other then All in the Family. The story, while enjoyable, isn't a "ha-ha" type funny. More of a lighthearted look at a budding romance coming from the last place you would expect (for the character that is). My Rating: Out of a Possible 5 (From Weekend Movie Marathon: Romantic Comedies on February 13th, 2010) Veer-Zaara, a review by TomTitle: Veer-Zaara Year: 2004 Director: Yash Chopra Rating: FSK-6 Length: 190 Min. Video: Anamorphic Widescreen 2.35 Audio: German: Dolby Digital Stereo, Hindi: Dolby Digital 5.1 Subtitles: German Stars: Shahrukh Khan Rani Mukerji Preity Zinta Kirron Kher Divya Dutta Plot: Squadron Leader Veer Pratap Singh is a rescue pilot with the Indian Air Force, who risks his own life to save the lives of others. One day, on duty, he comes across a stranded Zaara... a girl from Pakistan. Zaara, a carefree, sprightly girl has come to India to fulfill her surrogate mother's dying wish. She meets with a bus accident leaving her stranded in a foreign land. Veer saves her life... and his life is never the same again... Twenty-two years later, Saamiya Siddiqui, a Pakistani lawyer on her first case, finds herself face-to-face with an ageing Veer Pratap Singh. He has languished in a Pakistan jail cell for 22 years and has not spoken to anyone all these years - and no one knows why. Her mission is to discover the truth about Veer and see to it that justice is served. And thus starts her journey to unveil the truth... the story of Veer and his life... Why has Veer been silent for 22 years? Why is he in a jail in Pakistan? Where is Zaara? What happened to her? God has written the destinies of Veer and Zaara, such that they can never be joined together. Saamiya has come to change that... to join Veer and Zaara together... forever... Veer-Zaara is not an ordinary story - it is a Love Legend... Veer and Zaara's love legend. This is a saga of love, separation, courage and sacrifice. A love that is divine, a love that is whole-hearted, a love that is completely consuming, a love that grows with separation, deepens with sacrifice. A love that is an inspiration... and will remain a legend forever. Awards:
Extras: Scene Access My Thoughts: Wow, great love story. It completely captivated me. The sacrifice Veer and Zaara made in the name of love is really tremendous. This movie again stars Shahrukh Khan and the always lovely Preity Zinta. Also a lot of other familiar faces appeared again, like Amitabh Bachchan, who played in here and in Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham adoptive fathers to Shahrukh Khan. The Bat Jar Conjecture (2008-04-21) Writer: Bill Prady, Robert Cohen, Stephen Engel, Jennifer Glickman Director: Mark Cendrowski Cast: Johnny Galecki (Leonard Hofstadter), Jim Parsons (Sheldon Cooper), Kaley Cuoco (Penny), Simon Helberg (Howard Wolowitz), Kunal Nayyar (Rajesh Koothrappali), Sara Gilbert (Leslie Winkle), Mark Harelik (Dr. Gablehauser), Adam Gregor (Dimitri), Sandra Marquez (Woman), Sergio Enrique (Son) Great episode. Sheldon not wanting to win if it meant having to submit to team working. The beginning of the episodes are usually one of the best parts. This episode is no exception. 14. The Nerdvana Annihilation (2008-04-28) Writer: Stephen Engel, Steven Molaro, Bill Prady Director: Mark Cendrowski Cast: Johnny Galecki (Leonard Hofstadter), Jim Parsons (Sheldon Cooper), Kaley Cuoco (Penny), Simon Helberg (Howard Wolowitz), Kunal Nayyar (Rajesh Koothrappali), Andrew Walker (Mike) Another great episodes. Jokes about time tavel are always fun. But sometimes I am not sure if Sheldon knows that Star Trek isn't real 15. The Pork Chop Indeterminacy (2008-05-05) Writer: Lee Aronsohn, Bill Prady, Chuck Lorre Director: Mark Cendrowski Cast: Johnny Galecki (Leonard Hofstadter), Jim Parsons (Sheldon Cooper), Kaley Cuoco (Penny), Simon Helberg (Howard Wolowitz), Kunal Nayyar (Rajesh Koothrappali), Courtney Henggeler (Missy) A decent episode but nothing special. 16. The Peanut Reaction (2008-05-12) Writer: Dave Goetsch, Steven Molaro, Bill Prady, Lee Aronsohn Director: Mark Cendrowski Cast17. The Tangerine Factor (2008-05-19) Writer: Lee Aronsohn, Steven Molaro, Chuck Lorre, Bill Prady Director: Mark Cendrowski Cast: Johnny Galecki (Leonard Hofstadter), Jim Parsons (Sheldon Cooper), Kaley Cuoco (Penny), Simon Helberg (Howard Wolowitz), Kunal Nayyar (Rajesh Koothrappali), James Hong (Chen) More Sheldon = more fun. Also now they got Penny and Leonard together, they can start season 2 by building up the break-up and then get to the real couple of the show: Penny and Sheldon (From "Big Bang Theory" Marathon on October 10th, 2008) |
