The Ugly Truth, a review by addicted2dvdThe Ugly Truth A romantically challenged morning show producer is reluctantly embroiled in a series of outrageous tests by her chauvinistic correspondent to prove his theories on relationships and help her find love. His clever ploys, however, lead to an unexpected result. Stars: Katherine Heigl Gerard Butler Bree Turner Eric Winter Nick Searcy My Thoughts: I came across this one on Starz On-Demand. And I wanted to check it out as I am becoming more and more a fan of Katherine Heigl. It is not a bad movie... but it should have been better. Actually it is pretty average when it comes to Romantic Comedy. Sure Katherine Heigl was both hot and entertaining in it... Gerard Butler was alright in it as well. But this movie is missing a little something I can't quite put my finger on... something that makes for a great romantic comedy. Most of the jokes I have seen before... so it is not terrible original either. But as I said... it does entertain some... and I did like Katherine Heigl. I guess if I found this one cheap enough I would pick it up. But it would have to be under $10 before I would consider it.. My Rating: Out of a Possible 5 (From Weekend Movie Marathon: Anything Goes on February 26th, 2010) 1408, a review by addicted2dvd1408 Based on a story by suspence master Stephen King, '1408' is a gripping "roller-coaster of a head trip" (Owen Gleiberman, 'Entertainment Weekly') that will have you on the edge of your seat. John Cusack delivers "a tour de force performance" (Stephen Faber, 'Hollywood Reporter') as a skeptical writer investigating paranormal events. When he insists on staying in the reportedly haunted room 1408 at the Dolphin Hotel against the grave warnings of the hotel manager (Samuel L. Jackson), he discovers the room's deadly secret an evil so powerful, no one has ever survived an hour within its walls. In the tradition of King's 'The Shining' and 'Misery', '1408' is "a psychologically thrilling movie that leaves you gasping in the end" (Desiree Belmarez, 'Denver Post'). My Thoughts: Wow... I don't know what else to say other then I loved every minute of it. Sure there was some parts that was a little weirder then I would have liked... and some of it was a bit predictable. Especially for someone that watches a load of horror/Haunted house movies as I do. But over all... I enjoyed every second of it. The cast was really good. Johyn Cusack did a great job... but I though Samuel L. Jackson was outstanding. This is one I will definitely be watching again. Saishuu Heiki Kanojo 1.01 We Fall in Love The premise is good. I also enjoyed the episodes I have seen so far, but for some reason I never finished watching this series. But I definitely will some day. Rating: (From Tom's TV Pilots marathon on July 2nd, 2012) |
