Horror/Halloween Marathon 2023
I decided to start early this year so that means I have 46 days to see how many horror, comedy-horror or Halloween specials I get in this year! I am not saying I will get something in every single day... but I will do my best. Whether it is from my extensive DVD/Blu-ray/4K collection, streaming or borrowed from the library I want to at least try to watch at least one thing each day. Here's hoping! As for a total... Who knows what I will get. But I would love to top my best since keeping track.... and according to letterboxd that would be 114 from 2021.

Letterboxd Scavanger Hunt

This month Iwill be doing the Letterboxd Scavengerhunt hosted by the user named preisman Below is the propts... 1 prompt per day of the month... that I have to watch though  I can watch as fast as I like. That is if I can watch them all before the month is over. Wish me luck!

Prompts:
1. My first Scavenger Hunt was #41 way back in 2018. It was one of the main reason I joined Letterboxd. And a reason I keep coming back. I only reached 13 out of 30 films for my first try. And I really want to finally complete the challenge.
Watch a movie from your FIRST Scavenger Hunt

2. If there is one great thing about the Letterboxd Scavenger Hunt is finding new and interesting movies. Sadly, I can't get around to watching every movie in my lists. I average about 8 movies from a Scavenger Hunt each month. The most interesting films get added to my Watchlist. I also fail to make any serious progress watching those movies. HELP!

8. I need more help. I created an ever-evolving list of the most popular films I have not seen by year.

9. I do not give 5 star ratings out often. If I have, I consider them very special to me in some way. Or they are so bonkers I can't help but love them. It's not usually because they are perfect films.
Watch one of my 5 STAR rated movies

10. Ten out of 10, would recommend
Watch a movie you would recommend to anyone, everyone, and ME. I will try to watch it. Or I would at least add it to my watchlist for a later date. If I have seen it, then it must be worth watching it again. Cheers!

11. I am born and raised in Florida. It is home. It is a great place. And at times it can be terrible. But, it does bring me joy and I love seeing Florida in film.

Plot:
Farrah Fawcett (TV's Charlie's Angels) scores a personal triumph with a riveting Emmy-nominated performance in this gripping movie about a woman who takes incendiary revenge on her brutal husband. Veteran filmmaker Robert Greenwald (Xanadu) directed this classic TV-movie which was nominated for 8 Emmys and features wonderful performances by Richard Masur (Scavenger Hunt), Grace Zabriskie (Twin Peaks), Penelope Milford (Coming Home) and James T. Callahan (Lady Sings the Blues).

Extras:
  • Scene Access
  • Bonus Trailers
  • Interviews

My Thoughts:

I kinda remember this from when it came out in the mid 80s but not sure I watched it back then... at least all the way through. A pretty decent true story film though I found it to be a little on the slow side. It is one I found at the library that I will probably eventually add to my own colection if I find at a decent price.

And for those of you that it bothers the gore factor is definitely up there on this one. I found myself keep going back and forth on how much I actually enjoyed this one. In the end I came out in favor of... but there is definitely better out there.

Movies / The Gabby Petito Story

Tonight I watched The Gabby Petito Story, a true story that aired on Lifetime Movie Network.

Plot:
Follows Gabby’s tragic murder. Centering in her complicated relationship with her fiancé Brian Laundrie and what may have gone wrong during their cross-country trip. The disappearance of Gabby Petito captured America’s attention, setting off a nationwide search for the 22-year-old travel blogger after her parents reported her missing in September 2021, when she failed to return home following her cross country “van-life” trip with her fiancé Brian Laundrie. Non-stop coverage on the news drove amateur sleuths to dissect Gabby’s social media posts for clues about what happened to her during her trip, leading to the eventual discovery of her body in Wyoming.

General / Cable TV... Really?
« on: June 28, 2023, 06:15:00 AM »
I haven't had cable TV in the last 15 years. But today the roommate tried to get a better deal for our internet and the best deal she could get is with a small cable TV bundle. Well if I am going to pay for it I am going to attach it to my TV!

First time in 15 years I had cable attached to a TV and damn is it hard to watch... and what the hell? no more local channels with cable!?!

Biggest shock to the system was damn I forgot what commercials felt like and how often they came!

LOL  Cable TV is such a joke and we got it back in the house.  :slaphead: :stars:

Scream VI
In the next installment, the survivors of the Ghostface killings leave Woodsboro behind and start a fresh chapter in New York City.

My Thoughts:
Was nice to get to see this one at the theater. Been a fan of these films for years. This one promised something different. Yes and no. No major difference like they are pumping it up to be. Maybe it just seemed this way to me as I spent my entire life watching horror movies and feel like I seen it all multiple times. But over all I enjoyed the movie. Definitely recommend checking it out.
