What they say
It's the London Marathon, and thousands of feet pound along the Thames Embankment. Two of those feet belong to out-of-shape, out-of-luck Dennis Doyle. He's running to gain the respect (and hopefully, the love) of Libby, the girl he left pregnant and heartbroken at the altar five years earlier. And running alongside Dennis is Libby's handsome, successful, self-confident and 'very' fit new boyfriend. Simon Pegg ('Hot Fuzz'), Thandie Newton ('Crash') and Hank Azaria ('The Simpsons') star in a runaway laughfest from debuting director David Schwimmer ('Friends'). Can Dennis win back what he lost by lacing up some hi-tech footwear? One thing's for sure: He's putting his heart and soles into the attempt.

The Darjeeling Limited, a review by Rich

The Darjeeling Limited

Three American brothers who have not spoken to each other in a year set off on a train voyage across India with a plan to find themselves and bond with each other -- to become brothers again like they used to be. Their "spiritual quest", however, veers rapidly off-course (due to events involving over-the-counter pain killers, Indian cough syrup, and pepper spray), and they eventually find themselves stranded alone in the middle of the desert with eleven suitcases, a printer, and a laminating machine. At this moment, a new, unplanned journey suddenly begins.

What started as an original, quirky and interesting movie with plenty of promise sadly tailed off into a twee, dull and self-absorbed trial. It drags on slower than the train from the title, and you find your hand twitching over the fast forward button.
Visually it is a treat, very colourful, rich characters, the music excellent, original and fairly earnest. However this cannot compensate for the lack of any punch in a script that does not spark, I can imagine this is a great book, and should probably have stayed as just that.
Sadly, I am sure there will be pretentious fans of this film who will claim I didn't get it, but when I pop a dvd in I want to be entertained, moved or challenged. This film did not take any of these boxes for me.

Die Camper
Season 9.13 Winterzauber

I only ever saw the first season of this series and stopped watching it in the beginning of the second season when the whole cast was replaced which really bothered me. I bought this DVD set with all nine seasons, because it is the only way to get the first season on DVD. And as the set cost me only as much as usually a single season sells, it was a good deal.
I decided to watch the final episode for this marathon even though I didn't watch the rest. This is a series, where you can watch any episode and not having missed anything. And as I doubt I will watch all the nine seasons any time soon.
The final episode is just an average episode. Not hinting in any way that this is the end of the series. It is nice enough to watch, but nothing special.
