Zoom: Academy for Superheroes, a review by TomTitle: Zoom: Academy for Superheroes Year: 2006 Director: Peter Hewitt Rating: PG Length: 85 Min. Video: Anamorphic Widescreen 1.85 Audio: English: Dolby Digital 5.1, Italian: Dolby Digital 5.1 Subtitles: Dutch, English, Hindi, Italian Stars: Tim Allen Courteney Cox Chevy Chase Spencer Breslin Kevin Zegers Plot: Buckle up and prepare for a ride that's out of this world! When Earth is threatened with imminent destruction, an out-of-shape, out-of-work and over-the-hill former superhero is called back into action to save the day. That hero is Jack Sheppard a.k.a "Captain Zoom" (Tim Allen). The problem is he's lost all his powers. And now, it's up to General Larraby (Rip Torn) and Dr. Grant (Chevy Chase) to coax him into taking one more mission: train a ragtag bunch of kids with amazing superpowers of their own. With help from the brainy Marsha Holloway (Courteney Cox), they'll learn to work as a team and harness their powers to battle an evil menace who's determined to make one seriously huge mess of life as we know it. Extras: Featurettes Scene Access Trailers My Thoughts: I cannot believe that this movie has such a bad rep. I really enjoyed it. It was much more fun than expected. Little Cindy is a riot. Also the rest of the cast is fun to watch. And why was Tim Allen nominated for worst actor? He was perfect for the role of a washed-up superhero. Reminded me a little of his role in Galaxy Quest.Rating: (From Tom's Random Reviews on June 27th, 2010) The Parent Trap 2, a review by addicted2dvd
Stars: Hayley Mills as Sharon Ferris/Susan Tom Skerritt as Bill Grand Carrie Kei Heim as Nikki Ferris Bridgette Andersen as Mary Grand Alex Harvey as Brian Gloria Cromwell as Florence Plot: First time on DVD! In the full-length sequel The Parent Trap II, Hayley Mills returns to reprise her roles as identical twins Sharon and Susan. Now all grown up, Sharon is a single mom whose 11-year-old daughter Nikki is just as mischievous as she was! During summer school Nikki and her new friend Mary turn into scheming matchmakers when they try to get Sharon and Mary's widowed father together. Not quite able to make it happen, they turn to the one person who can really help -- Sharon's twin Susan! Extras:
My Thoughts: Going by the plot for this one I will admit I was a bit concerned. But I have to say... I enjoyed every minute of it! I really enjoyed the story... and it had several laugh out loud moments for me. I was glad to see this one being Sharon and Susan grown up and getting involved with switching instead of them trying to do the same (or similar) thing with their kids this time. I also liked that they were able to get the same actress to play Sharon and Susan. I also liked that Tom Skerritt is in this movie. I have slowly become a fan of his over the last few years. It is a pleasant surprise that I liked this one almost... if not as much as the first part.My Rating: Out of a Possible 5 (From What Movies I Been Watching on July 21st, 2013) Tom's TV Pilots marathon, a review by Tom
Plot: There can be only one! Seven hundred years after the Great Catastrophe, post-apocalyptic Earth is ruled by the evil Immortal Kortan. But now there has arisen a new champion, a young Immortal who will fulfill the ancient prophecy and bring peace to Earth: His name is Quentin MacLeod and he is the Highlander. The ultimate fight between good and evil begins as Quentin embarks on a perilous quest to regain the knowledge that will allow him to destroy Kortan, save the human race and restore peace to the world. Join the Highlander in his quest for peace in this complete animated series! Highlander: The Animated Series 1.01 The Last of the MacLeods This is the first time that I ever saw an episode from this series. Maybe it can be enjoyed by children but I didn't enjoy it. And again we have Ramirez in this one. He died in the first movie but for some reason appeared and the second one again, and dies again. And now he appears again in this series which is set some hundred years in the future. Rating: (From Tom's TV Pilots marathon on October 16th, 2011) |
