A Christmas gift from me to myself (Sorry, that's the smallest image I found  :-[).

But why so many discs ?  Yes, they are very long movies........................but this is blu ray, they're supposed to contain like 45 gigs each  :stars:  :headscratch:

Jimmy

Considering the DVD version is four DVDs by movie, 5 blu-rays by movie isn't that many... So you jump on the Amazon Canada offer a week or two ago. Almost got it myself, but I expect to get them on DVDs (the first and last part since I have the extended version of the second one)  wich isn't different for me my being non-HD.

Eric

I picked it up at Archambault for 45$.

Each movie is "only" 2 discs but still, at 45 gigs each it seemed like a lot.

It was 39$ at Amazon in special during their black friday sale... but 45$ isn't a bad price either. Even with the NFBSK taxes ::)

Eric

But then at 39$ you have to pay shipping because you get it free only at 39.99$+  :hysterical:

Jimmy

You got the free shipping for a 25$ order since last year

Eric

I guess  that shows how much I buy nowadays ;)

They didn't want you to feel like you got cheated. "Get your money's worth" or whatever. *shrug*
I have a collection.
It can be found here.
No need to check it often.
I update it only twice a year!

For each film the Blu-rays are only discs 1 & 2 with all the commentaries on them. The other 3 discs are DVDs with the first 2 DVDs identical to the extras discs in the original extended edition DVD releases whilst the third DVD contains 'new' bonus material.

Do I get this right?

You had to do the same thing with the SEE/CE DVDs...

Having to switch discs during a four hour movie seems not such a big deal to me. I rather have them use two discs and less compression than sacrifice quality too much. The added space of the blu-ray is meant to allow for higher quality, not only more quantity per disc.

Lawrence of Arabia does the same. Not sure about Heaven's Gate right now, but I think that 3.5h is on one disc only (hmmm, and that is even by Criterion...).

Dragonfire

I think my mom's Blu-ray of Gone With the Wind has to be changed too.
