This hasn't been my month...I get an e-mail from Overstock.com telling me I've got store credit and it was enough to purchase one movie (I'm betting they did it to try and get me to start buying from them again).  So I order one movie using that and then I wait...and wait...and wait some more.  Then I have to go into the hospital for 3 days (ambulance ride, woo hoo!) and when I get home today the movie was waiting for me...outside my front door getting rained on.  Luckily, it seems to be okay.  What I got was the 2-disc "Centennial" edition of The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance:thumbup:

Glad you finally got it Roger!

I was waiting for you to get back because as one of the few Western experts I know... I was wondering what you thought of the Western Achim sent me. (The Wild Bunch) :)

I can't believe some of you guys were trying to persuade him to watch Mr. Holland's Opus the other day!  :redcard:

That's not a musical  :hmmmm:

No, it isn't, it's wonderful drama, however, it's very heavy on the music, especially the ending. Remember Pete is very odd :tease: and doesn't like music at all. He might even struggle with the most famous scene in Deliverance!

Don't panic, Pete, it's just a scene where one of the guys meets a banjo player and they find some common ground and have a "duel" with the banjos. It doesn't last too long...  ;)

Oh I heard about that very famous scene in Deliverance before... and already preparing myself for it for when I do watch it. :P

Don't forget to squeeze your butt cheeks together when you hear the 'squeal like a pig, boy' line  :hysterical:
still makes my eyes water remembering it

Ok... now that is one I never heard about. I will have to keep my eyes open. :P

Regarding "The Wild Bunch", it is considered one of the greatest westerns of all time by most people.  I once had a book called "The Great Movies" where the writer picked the greatest movies of all time, listing them by genre.  For westerns he had 5 choices and this was one of them.  I think Shane was another (though many consider that one overrated) and the final 3 were John Wayne films: The Searchers, Stagecoach and Red River.  Of course, personally, I feel the writer made a mistake in leaving out Rio Bravo...  8)
