I actually logged in over there today to check out the beta comments. Seems kinda messy as always with early betas. And big (non)surprise: no posts in the Plugin Development forum, meaning the new SDK is still not available.

I just hope someone pays attention to the XML and HTML section stuff as I won't be around to do it this time.

And releasing a beta on a Friday is just cruel.

I am paying attention to the XML and a little to the HTML section.
Of course, as usual in early beta phase, Ken messes up the XML. E.g. the new Audio channels do not show up, and the AudioFormat is totally messed up. Nothing is exported correctly.
And after doing an XML export, you will have to shoot down the Profiler window :(

I will keep an eye on the XML, too, since most of my tools are based on the XML export or the cast/crew XML import.

BTW: my DVDP 3.6 doesn't crash on export. Have you tried another profile?

And since it is also the base for phpdvdprofiler, FredLooks hopefully will do so too.

...and a little to the HTML section.

That's nice, primarily because I still want to update PCP for existing users.

In the long run, I myself will probably move away from DVD Profiler. After re-evaluating my use cases, those most heavily used (anything related to detailed DVD content + flexible statistics and queries) are implemented in a secondary DB and not in DVD Profiler anyway. And since I also plan to move to Linux as my primary OS, I probably will end up creating a new frontend based on phpdvdprofiler.

I'm not surprised.  I'm not even sure I'd want the SDK until the first round or two of betas are out of the way.  I'd hate to get started on something only to have Ken make drastic changes based on early feedback.

It doesn't crash, but the Profiler window doesn't react anymore. I get an hourglass and I have no possibility to interact with the window anymore (the title bar has the "(keine Rückmeldung)" displayed). I have to right-click on the task and close it, which then will forcefully shut-down Profiler. It doesn't matter which profile I export.

DJ Doena

OK, it doesn't do that either.

Sometimes it happens with Profiler 3.5 that the message box saying it's finished doesn't pop up properly. It would be still a bug, but try the following: After the export is supposedly finished, switch to another program and then switch back to DVDP with Alt+Tab, then (at least in 3.5) the message box is on top and can be clicked.

The message box always pops up and disappears correctly. After the message box disappears, the problem starts. Switching to another application doesn't help, because then I cannot even switch back to Profiler (the GUI doesn't refresh).

Tom

I just tried the export using a command file. With that it works

DJ Doena

I did not mean to imply that you didn't find a bug.  :-[

I didn't take it that way ;)

Since you may not be visiting on a regular basis, this is now available.  2 changed methods (dealing with the audio of course), 16 new IDVDInfo methods and 20 new methods in IDVDProfilerAPI.

Does anyone have an idea of what new features is there ?  I just installed it and looked quickly but I don't see anything new..........at least nothing that I would use.
