Well, I ended up voting for The Man Who Would Be King, which is one of my favorite Caine films, but I was really torn between that and The Quiet American. I think my very favorite Caine film will always be Sleuth, just brilliant stuff. I'm looking forward to the remake starring him and Jude Law.

I haven't seen the Ripper miniseries. I'm told Caine's performance as Abberline is genius but I'm usually suspicious of director David Wickes' adaptations. His takes on Frankenstein & Jekyll & Hyde (also starring Caine) were just too horrible for words.

I can't see Get Carter! My personal favourite. But also, The Ipcress File? Zulu? And what about the real classics: On Deadly Ground?

The last one, I was kidding, I hasten to add. :-X

On Deadly Ground  :hysterical: Oh dear, that was just one of the stupidest films ever. Btw, what did they do to Michael Caine's face on that one? He looks like he spent a lot of time partying around with Paris Hilton's makeup designer.

I always thought "Get Carter" was crap, sorry if I'm wrong.  It would have been too long to put everything but I'll keep adding on request.

Oh btw, Jack the Ripper is very good.  If you can find a copy at a reasonable price it's definitely worth watching.  I know it's not available in R1 because I got screwed by some asshole on eBay and I ended up with a home made R1 totally illegal copy.

 :o

I can't believe you just said that! Get Carter is one of the best British thrillers ever. That, and Long Good Friday. It's magnificently grim.

I know you can't have everything, but you have also missed Alfie. Now, Jack the Ripper, yes, very good, but it is after all a TV movie. Zulu, Get Carter, The Man Who Would Be King, Alfie are massive contributions to British cinema. And The Ipcress File isn't far behind, but it was let down by the daft sequels. Could have been a great anti-Bond film.

It must be my memory failing me because I thought "Get Carter" was a crappy movie with Silvester Satllone.

I just checked on "the site that should not be named at the other site", now I know why I got confused.  "Get Carter", 2000, Sylverster Strap-on, remake of the 1971 British movie of the same name.

I've seen the 2000 version and found it to be crap, now that I know of its existence, I shall get the Michael Caine version and watch it.

I only own 7 movies with Michael Caine; should get some more.

My favorite of those is Zulu, The Italian Job is second; also like Get Carter a lot (which I bought after seeing the remake with Stallone).

the one I remember from my childhood but is currently not available on DVD, I think, is Sleuth.
