Richard Castle is a successful bestseller author who just killed his main character in the last book. But now he has a writer's blockage and isn't able to write anymore. But then a copycat killer shows up who kills his victims in the fashion people were killed in Castle's books. The New York police asks him to assist in the case and he agrees. He works with Detective Beckett und he begins to taste blood. He wants to make her his role model for his next character. She is not amused - but he's buddy with the mayor.

I am normally not into cop shows (anymore), especially if they are of the run-of-the-mill kind. But this feels like a modern day version of Murder She Wrote and I loved that show. And Nathan Fillion (Firefly, Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog) makes a great author and Stana Katic is good at being annoyed of him. Sometimes when she smiles he looks a bit like Sarah Clarke (Nina Meyers from 24) - not that this is a bad thing, just noticing. The premise also reminds me a bit of The Hard Way, but that isn't bad either, since I liked that movie, too.

I like the look of that! Has a Bones-ish feel, with the bonus that Nathan Fillion proves he can be convincing as someone who can't handle a gun for once.

Big fan of the show. Only watched it at first due to Fillion being in it but quickly liked the entire cast. I was afraid the father daughter relationship would be too much like the one on Shark (very similar circumstances and characters basically the same age). It didn't take long to see a difference. The relationship here is much better then the whinny PITA chick from Shark

Color me intrigued.

Is this playing now or soon?

The first season ran last season, I got it over my usual grey channels.

September 22nd I believe.

EDIT: If I'm not mistaken that should read "the 22nd of September" according to the rest of the world  :laugh:

The Chinese language is with you on this. They also mention the month first, then the date.

9月22日
月=moon/month
日=sun/day

I love the show.  I started watching it because of Fillion and really liked it.  I'm glad that it got picked up for another season.  I will definitely be getting the DVD set when it comes out.

Resurrecting a really old thread here.

I just recently discovered Castle and have watched the two first seasons and half of the third. I really like the show. But there's one thing that bothers me just a little. Molly Quinn is cute as a button, but isn't her character Alexis just a little too perfect? I mean, surely no teenage girl is that perfect. I bet even Pete would agree...  ;)

I havent been the biggest fan of 'Molly' or the Alexis character. One of the reasons being just that. AM (the show creator) is doing everything for a reason. So i guess we will find out why she is written like that. But i guess it got something to do with who her parents was maby? After the last season (season 5) i still got alot of quastions i want answered! ;) Going to be a interesting season 6 IMO.
Glad new people are starting to watch Castle aswell!

Most of the time the writing is crisp and some what inventive.  Dialog brings back memories of the great TV show Moonlighting.  Mid series there was an arc i didn't find very good but other than that it has been a hoot.
Thank you

Alexis is perhaps too good to be true...but I also find it ...a nice change from a lot of shows to see a teenager that is well adjusted and not a total brat.  She does have her moments every so often.  In many ways she is more mature than her dad.  And the way Rick is and her flighty mother probably is part of why she is more serious.

I'm ready for season 6 to start now - especially after I just had myself a Castle marathon.  just over 100 episodes in 6 and a half days - I rewatched season 5 thanks to my DVR.  I saved the episodes after watching them..which is part of why my DVR is holding steady at about 90% full.

Pete, you should watch it.  It is fun and entertaining overall.  For a show dealing with homicide cops, it is fairly lighthearted.  I still watch the more serious ones too - CSI, Criminal Minds..etc... - but it is nice to see something a little different.

Oh yeah ... Alexis is WAY more mature than Rick which makes the Parent/Child relationship so much fun ... which is which.  Then throw in Martha and great dynamics
Thank you
