Before I decide anything, I'll ask:

Would anybody be opposed to the idea that I would take over the board and continue it in the way it is now?

Of course not.

No complaints from the other site of the planet either!

(Although that's technically wrong, as I am currently within the same time zone as Karsten, will only move back to my usual spot next Tuesday...)

Karsten, if bandwidth would be a problem, I would offer you to run it though my webspce. I have a very small site myself and a nothing interesting is hosted over there I have close to no bandwidth a all. Would you choose to do so you would get full control over the site with me merely providing space and bandwidth; all the work would remain with you.

No opposition from me too.

Hi,

I just wanted to let you know that it will be soon.

What will happen then?

At a certain time X Eric will make a backup of this forum's database. We will inform you of this time X because from there you should backup your important posts locally.
Then I will take this backup and restore it on my server.
Then I will give you a temporary URL and you can begin posting on the new server.
Then Eric and I will move the URL www.dvdcollectorsonline.com to my server.
After about a week the move should be complete and you can use the URL www.dvdcollectorsonline.com again.

So you are saying that for the time frame in question we should keep a copy of everything we post locally and then re-post it (in proper order...?) after the move to your server?

Yeah, something like that. The problem is, it will take a few hours to create the backup and restore it on my server and everything in that time will be lost, because it won't be included in the backup.
