Can you even play Rock Band without those instrument things?

Well, you can sing with only the controller and the Xbox Live Headset. For drums and guitar you need the peripherals.

Dragonfire

That's what I thought.

The game I'm most looking forward to playing in 2009? Half-Life. No, not Half-Life 3 or even 2.3, but the original.

Some buggers re-done it as a mod in the Source engine!  :o

Black Mesa Source

Should be a popular theme for a couple of you.

Right, I need help from some of you gaming experts. There's a particular game I want to get my hands on now. I'll pay for it of course, but I don't want to have to wait for shops to get it in stock; I'd rather just download it now. So I can play it. Now. I'm not interested in any bullshit about it [whiny voice]"not being finished"[/whiny voice]. I've seen pictures. I've now seen videos. Are you going to try and tell me this doesn't exist yet? November? Sod off.

Want it. Now.  :drooling:

Modern Warfare 2

I just saw it on the Xbox moments ago. I'm more pumped about the return of Monkey Island though.

Monkey Island is back!!

Yes! Guybrush Threepwood will finally get a new adventure!!

Yes, the trailer for MW2 looks awesome. I am looking forward as well. Although, I am only mediocre and have quite some trouble on Medium already...

Where can I find more? It's not on my usual news sources yet... (just found it)

:hmmmm: it'll be on Wii and PC. Not sure I should dare to install it in a VM environment, may actually have to use Boot Camp now... Then again, Lucasarts seems to want to milk it by doing episodes (depends pricing, obviously), so I'll see...

The whole "season" (all 5 episodes) are only 34.99$ 34.95$ in downloadable form. Add a few bucks at the end for shipping of the CD, so it's about 40$ for the whole thing. All 5 episodes together should probably equal about the length of a standard game, so it's all good!

I've already preordered it!

They even throw a free episode from one of their other series! I might have to try out Wallace and Gromit in that case.. (I already have Sam & Max)

I suppose you also saw that they re-release The Secret of Monkey Island in updated form? With voice over!? There's some videos to enjoy; it looks great!

Yeah I saw that too. I'll definitely get it on Xbox* when it comes out! The revamped graphics look great!

Actually.. now that I have a better PC (upgraded graphics card).. I might get it on PC

Do you know if it'll be possible to revert to the old school graphics? Because as good as the new graphics look, I'd still like the option to switch it back to low res.

Woohoo!! The "classic" mode will be available!
http://www.lucasarts.com/games/monkeyisland/ <= in the about section, they mention you can switch seamlessly between classic and special edition!

Aw crap! I know what I'll be doing the next few days ... I just found my CDs for all 4 previous Monkey Island games!! I thought they were lost/destroyed/stolen!!  :yahoo:

Achim

I played 1 thru 3 and own 4 on CD but never finished it.

I'll freely admit that some of the riddles in Monkey Island were so hard that I had to look up the solutions. On th eother hand, the previous experiences with MI occasioanlly help me with modern games on my PS3  (they still make puzzle, but nothing as hard and hilarious as MI).

I must admit... I did the same! And even after looking up the solutions, I must say that some of them would never even have crossed my mind in a million years!

Love the Insult-Swordfighting in the games though!

Achim

Yeah, it could go from "simple things" like mixing up two components in your inventory to create a liquid for the spitting contest, which then had to be spit when the wind was in the right direction. :slaphead: Well, that's the kind of background knowledge I meant, which helps me in the games I play these days...
