I just followed the links through to a Life on Mars video. I found it on YouTube for an easy link: HERE

Looks weak. Very weak. Poor, even. But bloody weak. Do yourselves a favour and beg, steal or borrow the original. You've got a few weeks! :P

Colm Meany is a great actor, but there is no way he'll have the same bite as Philip Glenister's Gene "Genie": See King of the Jungle and Good Kids

I just checked Amazon and the UK version of Life on Mars isn't available here. So I will have to see what other means I can find. But I will still check out our version of the series as well. :)

Excellent news that BBT is back for a second season  :yahoo:
Great to see that it's not a long wait for next season of Heroes.
T:TSCC back for a second helping is too cool for school
My Own Worst enemy sounds intriguing.

Quote from: addicted2dvd on August 27, 2008, 09:02:07 PMTuesday:
The Mentalist
(sep. 23 - 9pm CBS)
Fringe
(sep. 9 - 9pm FOX)
The Mentalist sounds like a more serious version of Psych
Heard abit about Fringe a while ago like the sounds of that.

Quote from: addicted2dvd on August 27, 2008, 09:02:07 PMWednesday:
Knight Rider
(sep. 24 - 8PM NBC)
Do Not Disturb
(sep. 10 - 9:30 FOX)
The pilot of Knight Rider hasn't been shown (legally) over here yet but would like to see it.
DND sounds like an Americanised remake of Hotel Babylon

Quote from: addicted2dvd on August 27, 2008, 09:02:07 PMThursday:
Supernatural
(season 4, sep. 18 - 9PM CW)
Life on Mars
(oct. 9 - 10PM ABC)
Love Supernatural, one of my fave shows.
Agree with Jon, watch the original, I never bothered when it was first shown, but was addicted whaen I watched the repeats earlier this/late last year.

Quote from: addicted2dvd on August 27, 2008, 09:02:07 PMFriday:
Crusoe
(oct. 17 - 8PM NBC)
Numb3rs
(season 5, oct. 3 - 10PM CBS)
Not too sure about Crusoe - you'll have to let us know what it's like.
Kinda losing my interest in Numb3rs - the
plot thread with Colby was a little too contrived
True Blood
(sep. 7 - HBO)
Dexter
(season 3, sep. 28 - 10PM Showtime)
True Blood sounds good, but I don't fancy it's chances, look what happened to Moonlight and Blood Ties. Buffy & Angel were examples that prove the rule. I hope that this does take off though.
Excellent, a third season of Dexter  enjoying season 2 at the moment.

Hi Guys

Could someone give an unbiased summary of Big Bang Theory, I keep seeing it available but cannot push myself to purchase it, on reading back cover it sounds like a tired idea overdone many times on TV previously, plus I never did like that kid from Roseanne.
Am I way off the mark here and is it worth investing the shillings to purchase series one?

Cheers

No, I can't give an unbiased view of Big Bang Theory. Sorry.

IMnotsoHO, it is the most consistantly funny US sitcom and one of the funniest sitcoms to be made for a longtime either side of the pond.

Agreed the plot idea is quite a tried and tired idea. But, and here's the thing, the casting and writing is excellent.

I'd say that the closest comparrison to this would be The IT Crowd, which I couldn't get on with.

lyonsden5

I'm with the munkey, it's consistently funny and one of the funniest shows around.

After watching only 2 episodes i was completely hooked.

I watched some bits of that on YouTube, liked it and therefore am THIS close to buy The IT Crowd... So are you saying I should rather get the Big Bang Theory, which apparently gets released in the US tomorrow?

And another TV series I will have to put on my list. I am not sure if I should be grateful that you guys brought me attention to this series, or not

Since you're not defending your "home produce" here I'll trust your and the others recommendation and swicth from IT Crowd to Big Bang Theory...

richierich

I'm convinced   :yu:

First series now ordered  :tv:

Tom

Since so many of us now have ordered "Bing Bang Theory", how about doing one of those TV series marathons together? Like the ones I started a few months ago (Spaced and Police Squad).

I went with free shipping... so depending when it gets here I may be in.
