I'm visiting a friend who lives in southern France near the sea. It was planned to be mainly a beach vacation, though the weather forecast doesn't look all that great

Wow ... South of France is a very nice place.  I was lucky enough to spend sevearl days starting in AIX traveling down to Marseille and over to Toulon.  What a great sevearl days ... but hardly enough time.  Outside of  Oregon (and our coast) it is a very nice place  indeed
