Skins, Shameless, Being Human - are there any new shows on US TV that aren't remakes? I know it is nothing new as such, but that many at the same time?

You can add Hawaii Five-0 to the list as well... and that is remaking a US series... but it is also one of the best show of the new season.

But even though we are seeing this quite a bit now.... it don't bother me in the least... just gives me more to enjoy. Just because I may have seen and enjoyed the original don't mean I can't find something to enjoy about the remake as well.

And to answer your question... yes I am seeing a lot coming on that is not remakes.

As far as I can tell at least none of the above is remakes from other shows. And those are the ones from the network channels alone. For the newest season alone. And I am sure I am still missing some.

So we are definitely seeing a lot of new shows as well... still much more then the remakes we are seeing (which as I said... I personally welcome as well).

Nikita is another remake (I think).

Pete, you listed The Defenders as a show that's not a remake...but I remember there being a lawyer show from the 60s by that title.  I don't know if they just used the same title or if it's another reworking of that same series.

I never heard of the older series... so I couldn't say. This one is about Lawyers in Las Vegas.

As I recall, the original version was also about a pair of lawyers...played, if I recall correctly, by E.G. Marshall and Robert Reed.

It could be then.

To be fair, considering this is the US we're talking about, the idea of someone being brave enough to make an American Skins is quite frankly, awesome. And the trouble it's caused already! Fantastic stuff.
