I whish they would put some older games on there, like Little Big Adventure 2: Twinsen's Odyssey or the original Close Combat and Need for Speed.

Critter

They have put some older games on there. I got the Deus Ex games which are pretty old, and they also had all the Oddworld games in a package and I remember playing some of them on my old PSone.

I got my new Graphics card on Christmas and just installed it today, all is running smoothly and I can finally play Portal without the lag (and hopefully many more games to come).

This is what I got:

GIGABYTE HD 6850

You got that just to play Portal?

Critter

Not exactly, I got it to finish Portal and hopefully play a lot more PC games in the future. I am already building up a library of them on Steam. I got Blur and Just Cause 2 for a bargain.

I played Just Cause 2 on the PS3 and had heaps of fun. It is not a story driven game by any means, but that grappling hook and parachute are awesome!

Critter

Yeah I've heard a few things similar to that. Apparently there's a level involving a few aeroplanes which is amazing.

Oh my ... "just" found something even more dangerous that Steam's specials .... GOG.com specials! Especially when it's on a game I remember fondly (Under a Killing Moon), coupled with the release of an absolute favourite of mine (Police Quest: SWAT) ...

Just blew quite a few dollars on:

  • Tex Murphy Series
  • King's Quest Series
  • Space Quest Series
  • Police Quest Series
  • Phantasmagoria Series
  • Gabriel Knight Series

and there's so many more great games of yore on there ... it's scary! And they are all at impulse-friendly prices! gulp!

I remember owning this game on a 2 or 3 CD set. Neve actually finished it, but it seemed quite ambitious. I didn't know it was actually turned into a series...

I read today some interesting news. Apparently Steam are working with PS3 to join forces on Portal 2. The new multiplayer aspect of the game will allow players on both systems to share! Also, there's a suggestion if you own both PC and console, you will be able to login to Steam on either and continue from where you left off.

That's impressive. It's been tried before I think, but with a game like Portal 2 and a Steam platform that should include Valves free development kit, this could be a milestone for PC and PS3. Meanwhile, that sound you hear is Microsoft swearing under its breath...

Just one more step to gaming utopia: no more bickering over hardware, just games games games!

I'll admit though Microsoft seems to be a bit over protective of Live. They've missed out on many opportunities in the past for not "opening" the Live servers and wanting complete control. It's understandable, but it's also why Steam support is headed to PS3 and not the big M.

Not that I personally care all that much about it - Portal 2 going multiplayer is a big let down to me.

I wouldn't underestimate Valve, especially with Portal. From what I understand, you won't play against other players, but you'll have the opportunity to solve more complicated maps with teamwork. And going by the trailers, the single player isn't suffering at all. Which is a good thing for me because despite my optimism for the MP, I'll probably only play SP. I don't like other people...

As far as I remember, the first Phantasmagoria was 7 CDs. This game was quite boring. I played it through once with the help of a walkthrough just to see all the footage. Only the showdown was any fun.

Gabriel Knight 2 (which came on 6 CDs) on the other hand I loved. I played it through multiple times just because I liked the story so much.
