In a couple weeks New Years Eve/Day lands on a weekend. I would like to do some sort of movie marathon that would fit this somehow.

I don't think I have many movies to do with the actual holiday of New Years... though with all the new movies given to me lately who knows.

Another Idea I had was either parties or just drunks. :P I am sure we could come up with many movies for this.

Anyone here have any good ideas for a movie marathon to fit in with the New Year's holiday?

Out of Curiosity... I typed in New Year's Eve into the search at imdb... here is what they came up with that I actually have...

- Angel Heart
- Assault on Precinct 13 (2005)
- Bless the Child
- Bridget Jones's Diary
- Christine
- End of Days
- Entrapment
- The Hotel New Hampshire
- Madhouse (1974)
- Rosemary's Baby
- The Shining
- When Harry Met Sally

Not too bad of a list... it is something I could work with... but that is if the "New Year" portion of all those movies are actually big enough to make it worth having as part of such a marathon. I never seen several of those... and the ones I actually seen I just don't remember.

Strange Days would be a good one too.

... and for the sake of your mental health: Avoid "Bridget Jones" at all cost.

Christmas Vacation
Die Hard 1 + 2
Scrooged
While You Were Sleeping
Love Actually

Most of them are Christmas related but maybe you haven't watched them in your christmas marathon yet (I didn't check  :-[)

You should watch the original Version of "Assault on Precinct 13" from 1976 first!
SCNR!  ;)

I don't have the original version yet. Though I have already watched the remake already... just been a while and I forget how much of it was about the New Year.

You should only watch the original, period

I remember seeing snow in the trailers, so I would guess that Precinct 13 gets closed on January 1...? In the original no time reference is given.

After being given so many movies here lately... I think this weekend will be an Unwatched DVD weekend instead of trying to figure out something I can do for the New Year holiday.
