DVD Collectors Online

I'm trying to Refresh updated profiles, but the little blue bars say 100% but it just freezes.

Any ideas?

That's happened to me before.  I ran the database repair and then it worked.

Is "Database Repair" and "Restore Database" the same thing?

No. Restore Database should be found in the File menu and will re-import a Backup file. What you are looking for is found in the Tools tab of Tools|Options, exactly named Repair Profile Database. The program will be terminated and the external repair program will run.

you'll notice the worth one minute after your HDD died forever.

Whichever way you want to do it, backup. Now. Stop reading and go and do it. Then put the resultant file on external media.

Why are you still reading this?   

I don't use the backup routine because I ghost my data drive instead. Profiler is friendly enough that the live install folder can be installed over with a new version and it finds your DB straight away.

I backup every week. I copy the data to another part of the drive (actually, from the Windows VM to the OS X area also at least once I week. I then backup my hard drive (which contains both sets of files) to another hard drive every so often.

A backup is like a sprinkler system or an insurance. Something you do, hoping you never actually need it.

I do the backup in Profiler fairly often...after I add movies or make little changes.  I do do backups of other stuff on my computer that often..I know I should.  I just haven't done it as often as I should.

I do backups for the profiler twice a week. Once a month I copy the entire database (file/open database/copy existing db). All backup files reside on a second hd and the latest backup file as a copy on an usb stick. In addition to this I always do backups before I install new versions of the profiler (strongly recommended!)
