Tom

Just stumbled across this one

An animated Bollywood movie called "Koochie Koochie Hota Hai" (being released this summer) which is a remake of the popular "Kuch Kuch Hota Hai" with animals as the characters . The main cast even is dubbed by the same actors who starred in the original.

Anyone looking forward to Clash of the Titans? I'm ambivalent - maybe because I love the original so much. Or, maybe because the Kraken looks like a dinosaur.

Personally think it looks awful. Sam Worthington is the new Vin Diesel.

You say that like Vin Diesel isn't very good or something...   :hmmmm:

Actually though, for a film of it's time, Clash Of The CGI Titans looks like it could be fun.

The 1981 version, like many movies from 1980 and 1981, holds special memories for me. 1981 was the year I graduated high school. I had moved into my parents garage that year and had my own studio set up complete with a bar! (Drinking age was 18 at the time so it was the norm for us seniors to drink  :-\ )I also had what was considered a large TV with HBO and MTV! My "pad" was the place to be!

I am looking forward to it cause I really like the story. I just hope in this case they don't try to simply re-make the original but make their own completely unique version. From what I've seen in the previews it doesn't even look close to the 1981 version, which is a good thing!

As long as it's the Vin Diesel in Pitch Black that's OK with me  But what do I know, I like Michael Bay movies  :tease:

Universal Soldier: Regeneration
The guys from (Cool) Shite on the Tube hated it. :shrugs:

I had no interest before or after...

Universal Soldier: Regeneration is already on DVD. Personally, I thought it was pretty mediocre. A big step down from JCVD for Van Damme.

Also, the Death At a Funeral remake looks absolutely abysmal. I have no idea why that film was remade, especially with that cast. I wasn't aware people even wanted to see that until now.

I wasn't aware of it being a remake, but the trailer does appeal to my sense of humour.

Meh, I think you should always give a film a chance before you crap all over it.... who knows?

I had a tutor (film studies) who used to moan all the time about people who said there favourite films were comedies and not black and white films from 1940 something.... Watching an old film doesn't make you opinion any more valid, on "film" he lost his job fairly quickly

...People are to quick judge things like this. "its a new american comedy, it must be shit" that kind of mentality annoys me and shows single mindedness.

Emma, you're confusing two things there. For one, remake or not, a trailer is a good enough first indication of a movies worth. Second, while no-one should pre-judge, especially with the excuse that old films are automatically better, Death at a Funeral isn't an old film! It's a British film from 2007.

Remaking it barely 3 years after release is a bloody insult.

Maybe so, but ive been wrong about many a trailer in the past!

and as for it being a remake, meh! TV Shows are re-made like that all the time, sometimes for the better!... for all we know it could be great ;P

Najemikon

No. I don't think we do!

Out of interest, which TV shows have been remade for the better?

And instantly you fall over!  :tease:

The great thing about the US version is it is different. It takes nothing away from the original, which is peerless. I tend not to like the remake, but I respect it as a good stab.

I'm with you on that. I love the original "The Office" - I tried the US remake, and I can't stomach it.

snowcat

Did you get past the first season?

The first season of the American Office was them trying to be the uk version... then with season 2 onwards they truly "remade" it and it came into its own.

Life on Mars was also pretty good!

Also.

...I hear there is a US version of Outnumbered in the pipe line.
