You may have heard that Halycon who own the rights to Terminator are on their arse and facing bankruptcy, therefore the rights are up for sale. Empire report today that Lionsgate have stumped up $15000000 as an offer! Now, that's a big amount simply because absolutely no-one else was thinking of anywhere near that amount. What I hadn't heard is that Joss Whedon had already shown his hand. This is funny! But serious. I think.

The first thing I thought of when I read Joss Whedon and Terminator in the same sentence was think of a song and dance routine.

Love this;
Quote1) Terminator... of the Rings! Yeah, what if he time-travelled TOO far... back to when there was dragons and wizards? (I think it was the Dark Ages.) Hasta La Vista, Boramir! Cool, huh? "Now you gonna be Gandalf the Red!" RRRRIP! But then he totally helps, because he's a cyborg and he doesn't give a s#&% about the ring -- it has no power over him! And he can carry it AND Frodo AND Sam AND f@%& up some orcs while he's doing it. This stuff just comes to me. I mean it. (I will also offer $10,000 for the Lord of the Rings franchise).

:hysterical:

I was aware of the Whedon thing, although only from his interviews. Some found it to be in bad taste, because it happended during the TSCC cancellation and Dollhouse renewal.

Had to smile at this bit:
Quote
2) More Glau. Hey. There's a reason they're called "Summer" movies.
Matthias

snowcat

Kind of interesting... could be a weird film though :S

Dragonfire

I read about the Whedon thing before.  :lol
Though he might be able to do something interesting with it.

snowcat

So I thought about it and I say good luck to him (Joss Whedon), could he really make it any worse?  :tease:

Critter

Anyone who has seen Dollhouse knows that Whedon has already done Terminator.

Jimmy

Too bad I ain't rich, since I would bet just to make sure that not a single one Terminator movie won't be ever made... Hollywood had never understand when it's time to put a franchise to rest (of course for me the first one was already enough, none of the others had top it).

snowcat

I don't think he would need to top the first film :) id be happy with a film that was just ok .... you know Like Jurassic Park 3 was

Jimmy, whatever you may think of it, Terminator 2 is astonishingly popular and very important for its time. It's also frigging ace.

Jimmy

It's a special effects film, the movie itself had no soul...

I know what you mean, but that's a little harsh. If you go into it wanting comic book action sci-fi, there is nothing better. In that sense, it has a soul.

:redcard:
Sorry, got to red card you there. Paul Verhoeven does better comic book action/scifi - Starship Troopers and Robocop.

Jimmy

I have to agree Robocop 1 and 2 are sure better than Terminator 2. But Starship Troopers, even if I like it, could have been a lot better...
