The north parts of Germany look more like this:

That last picture is exactly the image I get when I think about what typical, everyday German's do to pass the time...

Just woke up, the heat is already setting in. It's time to close all the windows and blinds to keep the cool in and hope for a cool change of some sort throughout the day.

Dragonfire

It is 0 here now.

Critter

I wish I had a little bit of that 0. I just went outside briefly and it was like walking into an oven. Last time we had heat like this over 3 days we had continuous blackouts becuase everyone used their air cons to much so the power company deliberatly shut off sections at a time. Being in this heat with no electricity for half a day is not fun. I hope they don't get to that stage again this year.

It's forcast to be a warm 44c tommorow (111F).
"Warm" is not the word I would use for such temperatures. Is that a dry heat...? Dry heat I find way more tolerable than humid heat...

It's funny how the body can change over time. I am German and thereofre used to temperatures between -15C thru 35C. Now I might find 15C to be "chilly", although 35C are still just hot.

It's a dry heat (thank-god), I can't deal with humidty that well either. The only problem is it's so windy that we are having strong, hot dry winds which aren't great for all the fire prone areas of this state. It's 6:15 at night here and still very hot, I just went to wash my hands and turned on the cold tap but nothing but very hot water came out.

EDIT: I just took my dog for a walk (it is now 8:30pm) and it is still in the mid to high 30's. I have a feeling it's going to be a long hot night.

snowcat

I can't believe we still have our snow!! it looks great, I think I may even make a snowman today.

I had my niece and 3 nephews again this weekend - ages 3 to 9 for those who are new. We were going to go tobogganing but it was only 9° fahrenheit (-12.77° Celsius) and with the wind chill factor it was -15° (-26.11° ) which was a bit too cold when your speeding down those toboggan runs.

So we ended up going to the local playground which the neighbors built. It is huge and filled with every fun thing you can imagine. No one comes there in the winter - so foolish of them - so the snow was pristine. We played in the snow for a couple of hours each day. Snowball fights, snow angels, jumping off the swings in mid air and landing in the huge piles of snow...you name it we did it!

Afterward we came home and had hot cocoa. They were exhausted so then we made the bed into a fort, turned on the electric blanket and made up scary stories! It was a great way to spend a cold winter weekend.

That sounds brilliant Kathy. Say, you wouldn't be able to send me a bucket of snow would you?

Only if you send us some of your hot air!

Critter

Take it! It's yours! I'm sick of it keeping me awake all night anyway, so shall we say... two truckloads of snow?

Take a boat and go to the South Pole to get your snow :tease:

Maybe I'll grab some polar bears while I'm there.
