Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle, a review by addicted2dvd

Movie Marathon
8/14 - 8/17
For this marathon I decided not to have any type of theme. Pretty much anything is fair game depending on my mood. Well that is not exactly true. Because October is less then 2 months away... I need to prepare myself for my month long horror marathon... so there will be no horror movies what so ever. I am abstaining from horror till October. (Stop laughing everyone... I can do it!) So anyway I decided to watch...

Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle: Unrated Widescreen Special Edition
Sexy Angels (Cameron Diaz, Drew Barrymore and Lucy Liu) are going head-to-head with Angel-Gone-Bad (Demi Moore)!

My Thoughts:
Before I even bought this movie I heard they really messed up this sequel. I heard it totally sucked. So I went into this one with no expectations what so ever. And it is a good thing I did prepare myself for that. I mean there is some good scenes in it... and some fun to be had if you leave your brain at the door when you go in to watch it.  But over-all this is just a fair movie at best. In this one they replace Bill Murray with Bernie Mac for Bosley. Ok... so they explained it away as not being the same Bosely... but a brother by adoption. Bernie Mac did have some laughs in it... but it was not the same. And it was definitely not Bernie Mac's best work. I would say if you have any interest in this movie at all... try to catch it on cable (or rent it) first... don't just put your money down on it.  I can say I don't feel to bad about getting it... as I can see times when I will want to watch it (not often!)... and I got it cheap... I got it in a 3 Movies for $15 sale. So it only cost me $5. So even though I am less then thrilled with the movie... I am not sorry I added it to my collection... at least not for the price I paid.

Nadja, a review by goodguy

   Nadja (1994)-

Cover blurb:

I know too little about the genre, but it seems that in the '90s, vampire movies entered the arthouse cinema, and some even in glorious black and white. The best known is probably Abel Ferrara's The Addiction, a philosophical meditation with then indie icon Lili Taylor as the lead.

Angel Marathon, a review by DJ Doena

Disc 3

Hero
Synopsis: A group of pure-blood demons who call themselves "The Scourge" hate all the half-demons and they try to destroy all of them because they "pollute" the demon blood. Angel & co try to help a group of refugees to escape from these demons.

My Opinion: Too bad that Doyle (Quinn) had to leave the show so early, that came a bit unexpected. On the other hand when it comes to Whedon you have to be aware that any main character could die at any time.
The parallels to the Nazis in this episode were quite obvious, although I have to say the the looks and the uniforms of the demons had a much closer resemblance to the Cromaggs from "Sliders" - but they were also characterized as similar to the Nazis.

Parting Gifts
Synopsis: While Angel and Cordelia mourn for their dead friend, Cordelia has to realize that she inherited something very special from him. Now she has the gift to get visions from the "Powers That Be" (PTB). Additionally there is a new demon hunter in town and he is after the newest client of Angel's.

My Opinion: Wesley?! That could become interesting. I presume he will give the show a humorous touch - at least that was my impression after seeing how he behaved in this episode. Let's see what they make of it.

Somnambulist
Synopsis: Angel dreams, that he is killing people again. As it soon becomes clear, this dreams become reality, but it isn't Angel who sucks the blood out of this people. But it is his fault.

My Opinion: Now that he is in the intro I am sure, Wesley (Alexis Denishof) will be a part of the show for quite some time. I also did wonder when someone from Angel's/Angelus's past would appear and I am counting on it that it will happen again. The fact that the detective now knows what Angel is should be a guarantee for some exciting events in the future.
