Evilspeak, a review by Jimmy

MOVIE / DVD INFO:

Title: Evilspeak (1981)

Genre: Horror
Director: Eric Weston
Rating: NR
Length: 1h32
Video: Anamorphic Widescreen 1:78.1
Audio: English
Subtitles: None

Stars:
Clint Howard
R.G. Armstrong
Joe Cortese
Claude Earl Jones
Haywood Nelson

Plot:
Life sucks for Stanley Coopersmith (Clint Howard, ROCK N' ROLL HIGH SCHOOL), a teenage outcast who's bullied by everybody at the strict military academy he was sent to after his parents died. But when Stanley discovers the crypt of a 16th Century Satanist beneath the school's chapel, he creates a computerized Black Mass that unleashes unholy revenge upon his tormenters. Now, all Hell is breaking loose...and Stanley's flesh eating demon-pigs are only the beginning!

My Thoughts:
This one take a long time to put the pieces in place, but it that case it's necessary to justify the massacre at the end. Like I said the real bloodbath happen in the last act, not that nothing happen untill than (the shower scene is sure something to be seen). You get a good cast of character actors (Charles Tyner, Lenny Montana, Hamilton Camp,...) and even a young Katherine Kelly Lang (common every guy was forced by his girlfriend to watch The Bold and the Beautiful at least one time). The effects are well done and as a revenge story this is credible. If you have the precedent release from AB and like the film don't hesitate to double dip as the quality of this Code Red release is much better since it's from the original negative and not a patchwork of release prints.

Not a fast runner, but recommanded... and no you can't use your computer to conjure the devil

Gestapo's Last Orgy, a review by Jimmy

Title : Gestapo's Last Orgy (1977)

Overview
Under the iron-fisted rule of Commandant Starker is a special prison camp for women frequented by pleasure-seeking Nazis on leave. Disechanted with the usual Nazi decadence, the Commendant develops a fatal attraction to a beautiful prisoner, Lise, who seems underterred by the nastiness that surround her. It becomes his goal to break her will by subjecting her to some of the most unspeakable tortures and atrocities ever witnessed, including a banquet scene your mind won't easily erase. Years later, Lise lures the Commandant back to the scene of the hate-crimes for some serious closure. One of the sickest entries of the Naziploitation genre, GESTAPO'S LAST ORGY takes a rather artistic approach to its utterly repellent subject matter.

A good episode, but I am a little disappointed with this showdown. I never really liked the Adam arc.

22. Restless (2000-05-23)
Writer: Joss Whedon (Writer)
Director: Joss Whedon
Cast: Sarah Michelle Gellar (Buffy Summers), Nicholas Brendon (Xander Harris), Alyson Hannigan (Willow Rosenberg), Seth Green (Oz), Anthony Stewart Head (Giles), Marc Blucas (Riley Finn), James Marsters (Spike), Kristine Sutherland (Joyce Summers), Amber Benson (Tara), Mercedes McNab (Harmony Kendall), David Wells (Cheese Man), Michael Harney (Xander's Father), George Hertzberg (Adam), Emma Caulfield (Anya), Seth Green (Oz), Armin Shimerman (Principal Snyder), Sharon Ferguson (Primitive), Phina Oruche (Olivia), Rob Boltin (Soldier)

In the past I never really liked this episode all that much. I was always disappointed, that instead of a good two-part series finale we got this coda episode.
But taken as a stand-alone episode, this one is really great and this time around I really enjoyed it. This is one of Joss's experimental episodes. In my opinion he captured the dream sequences great. They did feel like real dreams with all the constantly changing circumstances. Also nice that we got to see some old faces like Oz, Olivia and Snyder. And nice that we got to see the actor who was playing Adam without the makeup.
