Funuke: Show Some Love, You Losers!, a review by dfmorgan

Funuke: Show Some Love, You Losers!

Year: 2007
Director: Daihachi Yoshida
Cast: Eriko Sato, Aimi Satsukawa, Masatoshi Nagase, Hiromi Nagasaku
Overview: Funuke... is the story of a countryside family struggle. The movie begins with both parents dying in a car accident. The elder sister (Eriko Sato) comes back home from Tokyo because they are no longer able to send her money for acting school. The other two members of the family are the little sister (Aimi Satsukawa), an asthma-stricken aspiring manga writer and older brother (Masatoshi Nagase), who abuses his wife (Hiromi Nagasaku). Now that the frustrated elder sister has come back (and eager to leave again), tension within the family hits an all-time-high. Every member of the family has a dark secret and they lead to one event after another...

My Thoughts: A dark comedy it has been called, yes it is most definitely dark and there are some giggles to be had so I suppose dark comedy must be the best description but there wasn't a lot of laughs. A dysfunctional family is reunited because of the death of the parents but they have not reunited in grief. This film follows them as they try for retribution for events in the past and also to some degree try to resolve these issues.

The director showed flashback sequences by using a darker colour palette as opposed to the generally bright imagery for current day events.

There were plenty of trailers for Third Window Films releases but no other extras and this film was presented in non-anamorphic widescreen

My Rating: A strange but oddly enjoyable 3

My Thoughts:
I been trying to decide if I was in the mood for the next Darkman movie for a while now. But when I seen that Renee O'Connor was in this one I wanted to check it out since I renewed my interest in her since I been watching Xena again. Going into this one I couldn't remember if I have ever seen it before or not. I liked how at the beginning of this movie it sort of reminds you what happen in part 1. I was a little concerned that I would be somewhat lost since it has been years since I watched the first one. And I have to admit. I found it a bit weird to see Renee O'Connor in a role other then Gabrielle. And I am talking through-out the entire movie it was just strange seeing Gabrielle in modern clothes and wondered where Xena was when she was in trouble.  :P But I definitely enjoyed this one. It was a good continuation for the characters.

My Rating:
Out of a Possible 5

Charmed Marathon, a review by addicted2dvd

Disc 6:

20. Witch Wars
The Charmed Ones' powers are in jeopardy when they are tricked into taking part in a new demonic reality television show, where demon contestants compete to hunt down the sisters. The winning demon acquires their powers.

My Thoughts:
This one I really got a kick out of... was one of the good ones. I liked how they made fun of Reality TV. Definitely one of my favorites.

21. It's A Bad, Bad, Bad, Bad World
After Chris and Leo fall through a portal that transports them to an evil mirrored world, Phoebe and Paige must travel to the parallel universe to rescue them while battling their evil counterparts.

My Thoughts:
This was a good episode... but not one of my favorites... especially for a season finale. It just came off a little to silly for my tastes. But it wasn't really bad. It definitely had it's moments.

Over-All Season 6 Thoughts:
This is one of my favorite seasons. I really enjoy the character of Chris and how they handled his storyline from beginning to end. I liked how they didn't let us know much about him... and how we just got drabs of info on him through-out the season. Unfortunately, like most seasons of Charmed there is no Charmed related extras what so ever in this set. All you get is a handful of trailers for other series on the first disc.
