The Rocky Horror Picture Show, a review by goodguy

The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975)
Written by: Richard O'Brien & Jim Sharman
Directed by: Jim Jarman
Starring: Tim Curry, Susan Sarandon, Barry Bostwick, Richar O'Brien
DVD: R1-US Fox (2000)

My rating:

Cover blurb: The Rocky Horror Picture Show is an "erotic nightmare beyond any measure." Relive Richard O'Brien's sinfully twisted salute to horror, sci-fi, B-movies and rock music - a "sensual daydream to treasure forever" - starring Tim Curry (in his classic gender-bending performance), Barry Bostwick, and Oscar winner Susan Sarandon. Do the "Time Warp" and sing "Hot Patootie" with Meat Loaf again...and again...and again. Pull up a slab and let the madness begin!

I guess you have to be at one of those whacky screenings to fully enjoy this. The movie is great for the first half hour, after that it rapidly deteriorates. Still, even then it retains a certain silly charme and the occasional catchy song (e.g. Eddie's Teddy) makes sitting through the remaining parts worthwhile.

The Others, a review by addicted2dvd

Title: The Others
Movie Count: 7
TV Ep Count: 3
Other Count: 0
Time Started: 9:15am
Plot:
Screen sensation Nicole Kidman ('Moulin Rouge,' 'Eyes Wide Shut') delivers an utterly unforgettable performance in this scary and stylish suspense thriller! While awaiting her husband's return from war, Grace (Kidman) and her two young children live an unusually isolated existence behind the locked doors and drawn curtains of a secluded island mansion. Then, after three mysterious servants arrive and it becomes chillingly clear that there is far more to this house than can be seen, Grace finds herself in a terrifying fight to save her children and keep her sanity! Acclaimed by critics everywhere, the unpredictable twists and turns of this compelling hit will keep you guessing as it keeps you riveted to the edge of your seat!

My Thoughts:
After watching The Invasion yesterday I found myself in the mood for another movie with Nicole Kidman. I have always enjoyed this movie... is a really good ghost story. Even though I did figure out the end twist early the first time I watched it. This movie has some good atmosphere... and I think the cast did a great job.

My Rating:
Out of a possible 5:

Tom's Buffy and Angel Marathon, a review by Tom

07. The Initiative (1999-11-16)
Writer: Douglas Petrie (Writer)
Director: James A. Contner
Cast: Sarah Michelle Gellar (Buffy Summers), Nicholas Brendon (Xander Harris), Alyson Hannigan (Willow Rosenberg), Seth Green (Oz), Anthony Stewart Head (Giles), Marc Blucas (Riley Finn), Mercedes McNab (Harmony Kendall), Adam Kaufman (Parker Abrams), Bailey Chase (Graham Miller), Leonard Roberts (Forest Gates), Lindsay Crouse (Maggie Walsh), Mace Lombard (Tom), Scott Becker (Lost Freshman)

A very fun episode. We are introduced to the initiative. We have a very fun "fight" between Xander and Harmony. And the best thing is Willow trying to cheer up Spike after his "under-performance".

08. Pangs (1999-11-23)
Writer: Jane Espenson (Writer)
Director: Michael Lange
Cast: Sarah Michelle Gellar (Buffy Summers), Nicholas Brendon (Xander Harris), Alyson Hannigan (Willow Rosenberg), Seth Green (Oz), Anthony Stewart Head (Giles), Marc Blucas (Riley Finn), Mercedes McNab (Harmony Kendall), Emma Caulfield (Anya), Leonard Roberts (Forrest Gates), Bailey Chase (Graham Miller), Tod Thawley (Houss, Chumash Spirit), David Boreanaz (Angel), Margaret Easley (Curator), William Vogt (Jamie), Mark Ankeny (Dean Guerrero)

A episode I never really liked. Though it has some fun stuff in it. I love all the scenes with Spike. And this episode is the reason for a funny line in the Buffy musical.
