What they say
Jim Carrey and Virginia Madsen star in the year's most "mind-bending" (Pete Hammond, 'Maxim') psychological thriller directed by Joel Schumacher.

The nightmare begins when Walter (Carrey), a mild-mannered dogcatcher, begins reading a tattered, used book called 'The Number 23'. Obsessed by the countless similarities between the degenerate main character and himself, Walter plunges headlong into the same dark, seductive world. When the book's main character commits an unspeakable act, Walter is terrified that he's destined to follow the same twisted path.

My Thoughts
I quite enjoyed that one. I think it is a nice little thriller. And as with many other thrillers, there's the obligatory twist at the ending, which I sort of saw coming, and yet I was still surprised by it. I also felt the urge to watch it again to try and catch the little clues that are scattered throughout the movie. I think it deserves a watch, it may not win any awards, but it's good. I loved Jim Carey in the leading role. I find I like him much more in his dramatic work than his comedy, i.e. Truman Show, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, and now The Number 23. Virginia Madsen is just as beautiful as ever.

My Thoughts:
I have loved this movie since the first time I ever seen it back when it was first released in the early '90s. I have watched it countless time both on VHS and DVD. I was surprised when I checked my database to find out I haven't watched it in about 2 years! Both Jodie Foster and Anthony Hopkins were excellent in this one. This movie is the one that truly made me a fan of Jodie Foster. Even after countless times of watching this movie... it still has me glued to the screen with such an excellent storyline. If you have been living in a cave for the past 20 and never seen this movie... it is one I couldn't recommend any higher! It really is a must see movie!

The Criterion Collection DVD is a great release. The Audio and Video is great (at least on my standard 20in TV) and there is a great selection of extras to check out. You really could easily spend hours with this DVD. But there  is one thing about this DVD release I do not like... where is the damn trailer! That is a pet peeve of mine... I think all releases should have the trailer for the movie on the disc. I personally love to watch the trailer before watching the movie... to kind of get me even more in the mood for a movie before I watch it.

My Rating:
Out of a Possible 5

I have now finished this series and I have to admit, that I enjoyed it more than expected. I enjoyed all seven seasons and never got bored with it.

I had feared that the series will end on a cliffhanger, because I had read that fans are not happy with the finale and that there was trouble with the network and the series got cancelled earlier than planned. But I have to say, that I am satisfied with the way that the series ended.
