My Thoughts:
What to say about this movie? This film has the honor of being the first ever horror movie I seen. Since then I have become a complete horror fanatic. My all time favorite genre. This film is almost 35 years old now... and I must say it is just as good today as the day it first came out. It has a stellar cast... it has fantastic atmosphere... an outstanding creepy film. I can't think of any way this film could be better. While extremely long at 144 minutes... it doesn't seem like it while watching. This movie grabs your attention for the beginning and holds it to the very end... and seems to be over before you know it. If by some weird chance you never seen this film yet... it is one I cannot recommend any higher... is a must see!

Runtime131 minutes

SubtitlesChinese, English, French, Italian, Korean, Dutch, Thai
OverviewWhen legions of monstrous creatures, known as Kaiju, started rising from the sea, a war began that would take millions of lives and consume humanity's resources for years on end. To combat the giant Kaiju, a special type of weapon was devised: massive robots, called Jaegers, which are controlled simultaneously by two pilots whose minds are locked in a neural bridge. But even the Jaegers are proving nearly defenceless in the face of the relentless Kaiju.

On the verge of defeat, the forces defending mankind have no choice but to turn to two unlikely heroes - a washed up former pilot (Charlie Hunnam) and an untested trainee (Rinko Kikuchi) - who are teamed to drive a legendary but seemingly obsolete Jaeger from the past. Together, they stand as mankind's last hope against the mounting apocalypse.
My thoughtsFull of sound and fury, signifying nothing. That's from Macbeth, but it sums up this film pretty well, I think.

I must admit that I had some misgivings before viewing it. A friend of mine thought it was absolutely perfect. And I know that his taste and mine are often diametrically opposed. Anything with lots of CGI, and he's all over it. But when I offered him a free copy of The Guns of Navarone Luther, and I thought he was very good here as well.

So, if you're impressed by CGI special effects, this is a good movie for you. If not, well maybe not so much. I'm giving it three stars because it was darn impressive, but that's being generous.
My rating3 out of 5

I enjoyed the whole Heroes series. I still think it is surprising that the first season as so highly regarded. I really liked it, but still I was surprised that it was taken to such a high regard. I also liked the later seasons even though they generally aren't as well liked.
