Only You, a review by KinkyCyborgOnly You Title:Only You Year: 1994 Director: Norman Jewison Rating: PG Length: 108 Min. Video: Anamorphic Widescreen 1.85:1, Full Frame 1.33:1 Audio: English: Dolby Digital: 5.1, English: Dolby Digital: 2-Channel Stereo, French: Dolby Digital: 2-Channel Stereo, Spanish: Dolby Digital: 2-Channel Stereo Subtitles: English, French, Spanish Stars: Marisa Tomei Robert Downey, Jr. Bonnie Hunt Joaquim de Almeida Fisher Stevens Plot: A love story written in the stars. An irresistibly romantic comedy from the director of Moonstruck, Only You stars Marisa Tomei and Robert Downey Jr. as lovers destined to meet and fall in love. Tomei stars as Faith Corvatch, who, at age 11, asks her Ouija board the name of the man she would marry. As a teen, she asks a carnival gypsy, and receives the same answer: Damon Bradley. But when Damon Bradley never shows, the grown Faith decides to marry an earniest podiatrist. Just 10 days before the wedding, Faith's fiance receives a message from a high school alum- Damon Bradley. On a wing and a prayer, Faith flies to Italy with her best friend in search of Damon. Extras: Scene Access Feature Trailers Closed Captioned My Thoughts: Silly romantic comedy with Marisa Tomei and Robert Downey Jr. The highlights... Marisa Tomei is deliciously gorgeous in this early role of hers, more so than in any other movie I have seen her in. Bonnie Hunt plays her best friend and I've always liked her and her ability to deliver witty quips and biting retorts. The backdrops, Rome, Venice and the beautiful rolling countrysides of Italy are amazing and I'd love to visit there some day. The lows... Marisa Tomei's silly performance counters her beauty as she is flippant, ditzy and ultimately annoying. Fisher Stevens inclusion in any film automatically tarnishes it to a a certain degree and lastly, while I don't mind romantic comedies this one was just way too sappy for me. Won't be revisiting this one again any time soon... Extras: Scene Access Trailers Closed Captioned My Thoughts: This is one I have heard a lot about over the years... but never got to see myself. It is one that our good friend Roger sent me while going through his DVDs. Being a Disney movie I went into this one hoping to enjoy it... but at the same time thinking with the subject matter it had to be dated (after all... this movie is almost 30yrs old now) and was think time probably wasn't good to this movie. And I was right about that... but it really didn't matter. While not what I would call great... this is a good, entertaining movie. I had fun watching it. My Rating: Out of a Possible 5 (From Weekend Movie Marathon: Unwatched DVDs on November 13th, 2009) The X-Files Marathon, a review by addicted2dvdThe X-Files: Season 1 13. Beyond the Sea Original Air Date: January 7, 1994 While investigating a kidnapping case, Scully and Mulder encounter a death row inmate who claims to have psychic abilities. He informs the agents he will help solve the case if his sentence is reduced. Guest Stars: Brad Dourif as Luther Lee Boggs Don Davis as Captain William Scully Sheila Larken as Margaret Scully Lawrence King as Lucas Henry Fred Henderson as Agent Thomas My Thoughts: This is a good episode. I think Brad Dourif did a great job as Boggs. Seeing Scully wanting to believe was interesting for a change so early in the series. My Rating: (From The X-Files Marathon on April 8th, 2010) |
