My Thoughts:
Even though I am not a big fan of Ezra Miller's Flash, I was excited for this Flash movie since it was announced. And that the topic is the Flashpoint storyline. Then when other movies in the "Snyderverse" failed, I feared that it will be cancelled. Luckily it was not. And when even the new DC movie head James Gunn, who wants the movies abondon the Snyderverse and start fresh, said that the movie will come (even with all the bad press that Ezra Miller caused) and that cut of the movie he saw is really great, I got my hopes up high. But then it flopped at the cinema and the reviews were rather mixed.
Still I had hopes for it. I my expectations were met. I really liked this movie. I think it may even the best one of the DCEU movies. Maybe even better than Wonder Woman and the first Shazam. I was spoiled for most of the surprise cameos, but I was suprised that Ezra Miller had a dual role of playing two Flashs. Our Flash and a younger vesion of him from an alternate timeline. And that they share screentime most of the time. Really done well and really great acting by Ezra.
Now I am sad, that it flopped and we probably will not see another Flash movie. But it was a great conclusion for the Snyderverse, even though two movies come after it.

2001: A Space Odyssey, a review by Danae Cassandra

2001: A Space Odyssey
Year of Release: 1968
Directed By: Stanley Kubrick
Starring: Keir Dullea, Gary Lockwood, William Sylvester
Genre: Science-Fiction

Overview:My Thoughts:
What an interesting and beautiful film.  An absolute classic of sci-fi, and I can see why it has that honor.

First, it's a gorgeous piece of art.  The effects, the spectacular miniatures work, the spectacular camera work, all of that combines to make this one of the most beautiful films of all time.  It is dazzling visually and unforgettable.

The story is more obtuse.  It deals a lot with symbolism and theme rather than plot.  Humanity evolves, as does our technology, and what will be the end of our evolution?  Or are we only just being born?

I really wanted the middle section fleshed out more.  I wanted to see more of HAL and his interactions with his human shipmates.  The first and third sections, while I think I understand what they were trying to convey with them, I feel could have been cut down a bit to evolve the relationships in the middle section more.

It's a small quibble though.  If you are a fan of sci-fi at all, you MUST see this film.  If you're only a fan of action sci-fi, however, you won't enjoy this.  It's a slow, cerebral film.

Bechdel Test: Fail

Overall: 4/5

My PILOT Marathon, a review by Rich

MALCOLM IN THE MIDDLE - SERIES ONE - PILOT

First aired: 1/9/2000
Perhaps the most original sitcom pilot in recent years, this first episode combines sharp writing with a hyperbolic camera style reminiscent of Parker Lewis Can't Lose. Malcolm introduces us to his world, dominated by omnipresent schoolyard bully Spath and made worse by his enforced friendship with Stevie, an asthmatic wheelchair genius. When a battery of tests reveals that Malcolm has an IQ of 165, he is moved into Stevie's special accelerated class, despite his protests that "around here being intelligent is exactly the same as being radioactive." On the bright side, Malcolm discovers a practical application for intelligence when he and Stevie spontaneously hit on a solution to Spath's persistent tyranny.

I have watched a few episodes on tv of this series, but never thought a great deal of it whilst watching ad-hoc. The pilot however I really enjoyed, similarities to the Wonder Years but having it's own identity, very entertaining with great jokes from all the characters, introducing Malcolm and his genius status. The subtle jokes like all the houses for sale around his, the in your face gags like the Dad having his back (and other bits) shaved at the breakfast table - very good stuff indeed.
Overall, this is a good start to the series and I will probably watch it over time in parts.
